F1 screams out of the pit lane for another year, this time however it doesn't lock its wheels and crash against the wall as the previous effort F1 2000 did. Instead it stands proudly atop the upper podium with its celebratory bottle of Champagne spraying it on all and sundry. If F1 2001 were a driver it would be Michael Schumacher hated in some corners but a winner through and through. Bright, brash and a tad arrogant it sweeps away the competition with nary a trace of humility. So what are the qualities that bestow this level of greatness upon F1 2001, there are many. Graphics have been suitably enhanced and worthy of mention is unlike F1 2000 ... Read the complete review

Another year and another F1 racing game from EA Sports, but if F1 2000 was a failure (and it certainly was) then F1 2001 is a sure fire winner F1 2000 had good graphics, F1 2001 has great graphics and more importantly a great game engine to get the graphics moving around the screen at a good rate of knots. The graphics are outstanding the best l have seen on any formula one racing game, you will still need a fast well equipped computer to get the best from the game but by use of the extensive display options a good looking and more importantly fast moving game can be had by all. The biggest test for any formula 1 game is a realistic interpretation ... Read the complete review

This could have been the best F1 game ever, but it got scared of GT3 on the PS2 and went running... There has been a vast array of formula one games already on the PS2, this game being tipped to be the best of the crop (Didn’t have much to go up against anyway) Many who review game on this site just seem to state what the game is and it’s features. That’s not what I am giving you, this is my pure, raw experience of the games, it’s MY opinion. Yes the game is the best of the bunch and bought it the day of it’s launch, but it’s far from perfect, it just doesn’t seem polished. I have both ... Read the complete review

Driving games have been one of the strongest points on the Playstation console in recent years. With so many on the market, especially in the Formula 1 genre it is difficult for the manufacturers to come up with something ground breaking. This new title has certain things going for it right from the start. For example it is officially licensed from FIA (Federation International Autosport) so you drive against the correctly names drivers in Formula 1. You also get the cacophony of noise which is Murray Walker's commentary, backed up with Martin Brundle. You can turn this off if you find the geriatric ramblings off putting, which at 200mph can be the case! ... Read the complete review

F1 2001 is, as the title would suggest, based on the 2001 season. This means it has all the 2001 tracks, teams and drivers. It has all the correct liveries except, as usual, no tobacco advertising which is fair enough. The graphics are also good, if you have a decent machine. While mine is well above the recommended requirements, putting the full graphics options on means slow loading times and slow gameplay if you are not the only car on the screen. After taking the graphics levels down to a level that didn't make the game complain, the loading times are a little faster but the graphics are shocking! I've never got the hang of F1 games unless ... Read the complete review
