I’ve always been a firm believer that the ISS (International Superstar Soccer) series of football games played better than the EA equivalents even if they lagged behind in other areas. The flow of the game and general playability of ISS has consistently bettered what EA produced. N64 owners will remember the truly awful Fifa 64 (imaginative title eh?) and most of you will no doubt remember the rather cheeky Fifa 98 – Road to the World Cup. Although the latter had some very good points including the great five a side option. As the years have progressed though, EA seem to have begun to listen to the public and correct the various faults. Things took a ...  Read the complete review

Fifa 99 was a great game for up too 7 months but it was soon a game which was easily mastered and got pushed to the back of my gaming list. The graphics on the game are good and the controls are easy to master. If you are a begginer to fifa games then this game will be too good but if you own the other fifa games then it is the same as before but updated teams. I bought it and the game was alright. If you haven't got a fifa game then you must buy this one but if you own fifa games then stick to them! ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fifa 99 (PS): Better than '98! (134 words)

The first thing that I noticed about this game is the significant improvement in graphics from the last game in the series, Fifa ‘98, which looked very flat and 2D. The opposition is also much more intelligent and no longer stand and watch whilst you skip through the defense, be able to finish from only two yards out or pass the ball backwards whilst through on goal. There are also a lot more options available in this game than ever before such as more competitions to choose from and a wider database of clubs and players. The playability and addiction of this game is also greater than that of Fifa ‘98 and I think that this game is well worth a try, although ...  Read the complete review

IT IS NOW!!! Fifa 99, the 3rd from last in the latest Fifa releases, is probably one of the most repetive, unimaginative and boring football game available for the Playstation. I bought the game last summer, and i was expecting amazingly different graphics, options, team building, stadiums and more. But instead, i got Fifa 99. It was extremely dissapointing, to find that when i played the game, it didn't live up to its expectations. The gameplay on Fifa is very limited. With the option of playing friendlies, or tournaments (or very boring training), the game lacks originality and contreversiality. (Is that even a word!!!) There is nothing ...  Read the complete review

EA has succeeded where Rupert Murdoch has so far failed for among the many additions to this FIFA installment is a European Super League. 250 clubs are on offer as EA ups the stakes wih custom leagues, quick start modes and more detail added to the already huge player roster. The FIFA series has evolved into a polished collection. FIFA'99 continues this trend with 20 new stadiums, height differences between players and up dated commentary. EA'S development team has also added to the series' skill quota, with more instinctive controls and player AI making crossing, passing and fancy shooting slightly easier to effect. This ...  Read the complete review
