Advantages: Great music, long lasting, stunning graphics, amazing gameplay

Disadvantages: the battles may get a little tedious at times for some people

When i first bought this game back in xmas 97, i was not an avid RPG player, and had never played a RPG game. But the first couple of hours really made sure the beginner can understand the basics of RPGs, from being able to equip materia (magic), and saving, various features throughout the first few hours let the player easily understand the game.

The gameplay was the best feature of this game, one major aspect being able to participate in mini games, such as a motorcycle game, a snowboard game, and submarine game, which are just a few of the mini games to keep you busy in the gold saucer. There is also lots of sidequests to keep the player busy, in which you could obtain weapons and other valuable items for your characters,

The graphics were amazing for the time, some of the scenes for the "summons" were great to watch. the video's were beautifully detailed, scenes including the escape from the Shinra building will literally take your breath away.

The story is amazing, some characters had their own great personalitys, and you actually find yourself caring for them. I do think though that some of the characters were dull, such as Caith Sith who i found to be an undeveloped character
