Well here I am again, writing about another Final Fantasy title. Wow, it seems like only yesterday I was writing about the magnificent Final Fantasy 7. Well I suppose I should just explain a few details. Final Fantasy 9 is the final (excuse the pun) fantasy for the Playstation. 'Final Fantasy 9' is the latest in Squaresoft's series of Japanese role-playing games. As ever, Europe had to wait several months after the U.S. release of the game, for indiscernible reasons. Nonetheless, the game finally received its U.K. release on the 23rd February 2001. After some pretty intensive playing, I finished the game on the 4th March 2001, taking a total of 38 hours. Prefer the cartoony, more Tolkien-like charcters and graphics of Final Fantasy 7 to the uber-hip cyber-punk of FF8? FF9 takes the game back to the FF7 style but still keeps the graphical splendour that made FF8 look so much better than the previous rendition. I've only had this game for a day now and only played it for a few hours, but have taken the time out of running round some scary dark forest to tell you that this game absolutley kicks the asses of the other two!
