Flight unlimited II came out as the main competitor to Microsofts flight simulator 98 and the two were pretty evenly matched despite this title having a few months extra time to develop itself.

It is pretty much a bog standard flying simulator with a pretty small selection of planes such as a Mustang or the Beechcraft. The world is very nicely rendered with a lot of places done in 3d which allows you to fly in between the buildings or under certain bridges.

The game has the usual training tutorial that needs to be done if you are a first time flier otherwise you face a long wait on the runway randomly hitting buttons until your plane does something. The missions are your basic flight maneuvers and seeing how well you cope in harsh weather conditions.

Overall this is a game that only fans of the genre could really enjoy. Casual gamers would have too much of a hard time learning the controls at the start and then get bored with the lack of scenario's or decent planes to fly.
