Gauntlet was the fist game in the series, only to be seen in arcades, then this game makes a welcomed release- although this is similar to the PS2's Dark Legacy both worth picking up. Based in the same old arcade style, Gauntlet Legends can be enjoyed by 1 to 2 players. The game is still level based, with 'the tower' being the hub, to teleport to all the other levels in the game. During gameplay, as well as navigating and killing hundreds of relentless enemies, players can collect power-ups (as well as buying them from the shop), keys, fruit and veg (health-ups). If you were a fan of Gauntlet from back in the day, Gauntlet Legends brings the classic back, with a few updated touches. Inside, you'll find the familiar characters of yesteryear - only this time, with more personality. The main characters are the classic four (Valkyrie, Warrior, Wizard, and an Archer that looks very much like an elf...) along with four hidden characters. In addition, the characters can be any of four colors, and each color is not just a different outfit, but an entirely different character likeness. I first played this game on an arcade machine and loved it. After pumping a fortune into the machine, my friend bought the playstation version and it's well worth the money. You pick a character - archer, warlock type creature, dwarf or rather vampy sorcerer. The characters are pretty much of a muchness from what I can gather - so just pick the one you like most. You then go on a quest to find rune stones and turn on obelisks and thereby save the world from an evil dragony thingy - the usual stuff.
