Gran Turismo Gran Turismo is one of the most popular racing games that I have ever come across. This game of Gran Turismo is on the Play station one but it's a classic. Its such a good game but I have to admit that the graphics are terrible. I remember when I got my Play station when they first come out and I thought it would never get any better but it did. Gran Tursimo is one of, if not the best driving game to appear on the Playstation in recent years. You can have arcade mode with one or two players, where you get all the cars without needing to buy them but get rewarded with extra options when you finish races. But then you get over 500 different versions of cars (are are about 200 differnet cars in the game) with about 10 tracks to race them on but tracks can be slighty different depending which cup your racing them in. I remember when I first read about Gran Turismo in my monthly games magazine. I got so excited about the concept (of Gran Turismo mode) that I even described it to my parents whom did not play videogames. I didn't buy the game until it was re-released on Platinum, but the thought behind racing against my brother saw us take to it's tracks with haste. Back in 1998, the popular racing-game genre was still waiting for it's first true classic to arrive. Role-playing gamers had the delights of Final Fantasy VII, first-person shoot 'em up fans had had it easy for years thanks to Doom, beat 'em up connoisseurs now had the choice of Street Fighter AND Tekken and yet strangely, there had yet to be a racing game with a real 'wow' factor. Gran Turismo, this game is now known throughout the gaming world as one of the best, if not the best racing game for the Playstation. With the sequels, Gran Turismo 2 and Gran Turismo 3 (PS2) it makes this game look rather dated. In my mind, the game is still great and better than most recent racing games.
