You are one of the only people alive and must find your way out of the nightmare. You have a variety of weapons that you will find and use to kill your enemies. There are a number of puzzles for you to complete to move to different areas of the game. The only unfortunate thing about half-life on the PS is that there is no multiplayer game like there is on the PC. T...more

Premium Review Half Life (PS): NO WONDER WHY THEY GAVE IT GAME OF THE YEAR (653 words)
by - written on 21/11/01 (Very useful, 62 readings)
Rating:

My friend recommended this game to me and if this friend recommends a game then it must be good. So I pottered off to town and bought myself a copy. I was not disappointed :-) The game was installed in what seemed like a few minutes and before I knew it I was being attacked by aliens left right and centre! This is a game which gets you straight into the action with a few puzzles along the way. Each time I finished a section I thought ?Right that?s it for tonight??.hang on, ill just go round here and have a look? so I ended up doing section after section until it was at times 3a.m!! The game has been out for quite a while now, so many addition packs ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review It's a Wonderful (Half) Life (1535 words)

As I’ve been challenged by my good friend and colleague andycharger to beat his Half-Life review, honour and reputation are both at stake, so settle down for the review of the year. I’ve actually been meaning to write a Half-Life review for sometime now; in fact I’ve been talking it up in the office for a while now and have got a few of the lads playing it in addition to andycharger. I’d like to say upfront that I’m not a massive games player – I tend to latch on to one or two and play them into the ground. I’m also a fickle beast – a game that displeases me will soon find itself in the dusty oblivion that is the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Half Life (PS): a simple puzzler (752 words)

Rating:

Half life is a game that I borrowed from a friend at work. He is also a member here so I challenge him to a writing competition about this game. Come on Arthur, you know you can do better.... Anyway, Half life has been a very enjoyable, if obvious puzzle/action game in the same genre as Doom/Quake. A "behind the eyballs" type game where you command the character as he/she interacts with his/her environment. Setting the scene. ------------------ The game takes place inside a nuclear testing/laboratory/Science research centre owned by Black Mesa. After watching the introductory sequence and disembarking from a transport shuttle, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Forget Quake and goldeneye!! (515 words)

The first five minutes of the game was amazing the first time I watched it. At first I thought it was just an opening movie, so I was watching it. After about a minute, I accidentally hit the mouse, and I was looking at the ground. At that moment, I knew this game was going to be amazing. I realized that this was not a movie, but the game itself. Sure, after going through the beginning a couple of times, it gets boring, but that first time it is amazing. Graphics Even by today's standard, these graphics are excellent, while a little below the quality of maybe Quake III. The biggest complaint is the lack of a variety of models. There are 2 or 3 ...  Read the complete review

Half Life is a first person shooter game. It uses the same engine that was used to create the Quake games. This is brilliant because the Quake engine is one of the best engines for creating FPS games with. It has the best movement and controls and more realistic effects.
