having been given this game as a present, my brother hasn't been able to put the control down. This gameis jam packed full of fighting but in funny extremes- who would have thought that wars could be fought by hogs! I thought that this game was something for a young boy of about 7 who likes to laugh at the simplist of things, but having had a go myself, I became that little child laughing at the disfortunes of those playing against me as i battled against them. It's a wierd feeling to be incharge of a section of armed hogs. But the strangeness of the situation just makes playing the game all the more interesting. Although at times you can get a bit sick of ... Read the complete review

Anyone who has played worms will be familiar with the basic premise of hogs, use your substantial firepower to bbq your opponents into submission. Hogs is similar to worms in basic gameplay but in glorious 3d and with homicidal hams instead of anarchic annelids. The action is turn based and there is a gauge at the top of the screen to adjust the trajectory of the various missiles you'll be hurling at your porcine opponents, and holding the fire button for a length of time will determine the power behind the shot. You take control of a plucky young platoon of pigs with a choice of six factions -Tommys Trotters ... Read the complete review

I only bought this game three days ago and already it is calling out to me even as I sit here writing this opinion. Released in 2000 by Infogrames and featuring the voice of Rik Mayall this is an addictive and humourous game similar to worms but in glorious 3D. You choose to be one of six teams - Tommy's Trotters (British), Uncle Hams Hogs (USA), the Sushi Swines (Japanese), Pigstroika (Russian), Sow-A-Krauts (Germans) or the Garlic Grunters (French). Be careful who you decide to ally yourself with though, as once you do all other teams are your enemy. The game has a single player and multiplayer options. In the single player mode ... this game is great. its very often reffered to as the 3d equivalent of worms... which, quite frankly, it is. in the game, you control a mean, lean fighting machine which consists of some army style pigs. you can tell them what to do, eg. kill, maim, shoot, destroy, etc etc... you run around 3d maps in 'tomb raider' style view. the maps are large and are made up of many different types of terrain. there some interesting weapons to use ranging from rifle to bazooka. my favourite is the sniper rifle, you can zoom right in on the target. its great fun played late at night when you've got mates round, but the one player is ... Hogs of War is basically worms or Lemmings in three dimensions, it's such a simple idea. Why didn't anybody think of it before? The pigs are at wor and you command an army of bacon in an attempt to take control of Saustralia in the South Pigcific. It's a very simple game and you will pick up the controls very easily, you even get a practice level at the start to train you up! In the game you can use various weapons, grenades, sniper rifles, jet packs!!?? It's all light hearted fun. The voice of Rik Mayall as one of the pigs also makes the game a lot more entertaining. The graphics are not amazing but during the game you tend to forget ... Read the complete review
