Advantages: great gameplay, great graphics, finally real player names

Disadvantages: none

Forget Fifa, forget all those other footie games claiming to be the greatest football game of all time and say hello to ISS pro evolution 2.

For years now Fifa has been outselling the far superior ISS series, why, I think it might have a lot to do with the fact that ISS didn't use real player names in its previous versions. Well this has all changed. I am one of those people who don't really care whether they use the real player names or not but I know this is very important to many.

Now on with the game. If you own the previous game you will first notice the title is correct,"Evolution." The game has not much changed, in fact so little has changed that somewhere on the game you will find the entire list of things that have been added or altered. Some might say, "If it isn't broken don't fix it." Well I'm afraid I have to agree with those people. The biggest addition you will find is that the Master League now has two divisions enableing you to get promoted or relagated. This paragraph of course is all irrelevant if this is your first ISS game.

Although this game has prided itself on gameplay rather than graphics the graphics are the best I have seen on any PSX game. The replay function is unrivaled. It allows you to zoom in/zoom out, rotate round the ball or any player 360 degrees, fast forward/rewind and if you are so impressed by your goal you have the option to save it. Be warned about saving it though it takes up a lot more space than you expect.

The gameplay is unbelievable. It is so good that you can win a match at the beginning if you wish by using very simple controls but after time you will learn new things and take on bigger challenges. Tackling, passing, runnig and shooting is all perfect allowing you to be as creative or as simple as you wish. ISS is also is realistic in the scoring department, it is more likely you will win 2-1 than 15-12 like some games.

>The commentry is reasonable but not great. It is better than previous versions but it does soon get very repetative and even annoying.

The menu is well set out and easy to navigate enabling everything to be found easily. You can play exhibition matches with a friend, against a friend or against the computer. Two types of league and every international cup is there including the custom made Konami cup.

Overall this is nothing but the best footie game available anywhere, until the next one comes out that is.
