Advantages: can be played for hours and hours :p,can be installed on all computers and it has a great story...

Disadvantages: maybe the main problem is the graphic but the new sequal will arrive soon...

This is one of the old school games.It`s a strategy with turn based combat.I won`t say which configuration it requires cause everyone can install it and play it.The thing is if you have windows 98 you can install this one but for those with windows xp you`ll need the newest version called "Jagged Alliance 2 wildfire" there are also 2 version of this one is WF5 and the newer is WF6 which has more to offer.

In a state of USA called "Arulco" the evil queen Deidrana,with her army took the place of the leader by killing and destroying Arulco.Enrico who was the older leader who escaped from Arulco to evade certain death sends a e-mail to you [you play the role of a mercenarie] with cash and a mission to leberate Arulco and kill the queen.

The game consists of 3 interfaces.One is your lap top where you can recruit mercs,buy equipment,weapons...On your notebook you can read incoming e-mails from enrico,AIM,IMP...and others there you can see the history log too and your current team and the ones you dismissed,your bank balance incoming money and the logs on which you have spent money.The other one is the strategic view where you can move your merc from regions to regions and from cities to cities.There are 200 maps to be played on the tactical screen,on which is all the fun.On the tactical screen you fight enemies,interact wiht things/peoples,train,find stuff...

You can create a merc which represents you during the game.You`ll receive a e-mail from IMP with your secret code and then when you have entered it you`ll need to answer to 16 questions which will determinate your mercs character[friendy,aggressive,pessimist,optimist,ps ycho,normal].This questions also determinate special perks which will be given to your merc.Special perks can`t be trained during game so this will mean that depending which perks you recieve based on your answer that your merc is better in this things than other mercs.[night ops,stealty,auto-weapons,ambidextrous,thrown-weapo ns,martial arts,electronics,boxing,camoflouge,heavy-wepons,kn ifing,lock-picking,teaching]
After this you`ll need to select which points to spend on which attibute.There are many attributes:agility,health,dexterity,wisdom,marksma nship,exposives ,medic,mechanical,strenght,leadership.
All of this abilities can be raised up during game play with training or by doing things which are releated to an ability for example by punching things or people you`ll raise strenght and dexterity,by shooting people you raise marksmanship and so on.

There are 9 cities,4 SAM sites and two special places like the prison Tixa and the hidden queen`s weaopn factory Orta.By controling the cities you conroll their mines which will raise your bank funds depending on the loyality that you have in that city.The loyality is raised by compliting quests in cities or by liberating them from Deidrana`s forces and winning battles near cities.You can train militia in cities with a certain loyality level this will give you allies when defending a city from enemy forces.All cities have mines some gold some silver exept Meduna where is the queens palace situated.

You can have up to 18 mercs which are put into 3 teams each team can contain a maximun of 6 mercs.You can recruit mercenaries which will cost you depending on how long you want their assistance and how good they are.You`ll find also people who wants to join you for free[Ira,Miguel,Dimitri,Carlos]there are only four people from the rebels but they are good enough,and there are also ones which will cost you a misery to have them on the team.

There are many weapons at your disposition,from guns to rifles ,rocket launcer[the one which the queen is building for hers army]LAWs,mortars...there are also attachments for weapons a laser beam,sniper scope,bipod... each very usefull during battles.

The game does not require a good configuration which is a good thing cause everyone can install it.This game is 2d but it`s very good planned.The sequel JA3 is going to be 3d but this is still a rumor cause nobody knows when it`s going to be released.The sounds are done good,and the speech too.There are also some funny stuff in the game like sending to the queen flowers from the mortuary :D...And some mercs just don`t get along with other mercs they just keep on quarreling very funny in listening them.

I`ll now explain which ability affects what,what certain character affects what and i`ll add some strategy tips:

*Characters:
aggressive:makes you a better fighter, but worser at talking to people.
friendly:more success with talking to NPCs.
normal:this is just like it sounds normal :D.
optimist:always has a higher morale, better leadership abilities,also affects
pessimist:lower morale and likely poor leadership abilities.
psycho:causes mercs to be over-aggressive. If they have a burst-capable weapon,they may tend to fire off bursts when you least expect it, for no apparent reason,but they have a 15% bonus chance to hit when "going mad".
The only way to find out what your mercs is is to wait the 3 day in the game then you`ll receive a e-mail from IMP.

*Abilities:
health:this is represents how many hit points your character can take,can be raised by traveling on foot on the strategic map.
agility:this one represents the ability to evade bullets,blows and to be able to make less noise when in stealth,it can be raised by evading blows from enemies or bloodcats or by running behind enemies.
dexterity:this one makes you better in using your arms when hiting something or someone,throwing knifes,grenades,stabbing,can be raised by doing one of mentioned things or by repairing stuff.
strenght:like it sais it determinates your hand to hand damage and your stamina and how many stuff you can take with you that will not be over 100% of your carrying weight,it is rised by punching something/someone,using force to open doors or by travelling on foot with more then 100% of weight.
leadership:this is how fast you can train militia in towns,also affects your speech wiht NPCs,can be raised only by training militia.
wisdom:this is how clever your merc is,it affects your ability to defuse time based bombs,gainig experience,remote based bombs,speech.Can be raised by attaching a detonator to a explosive,then planting it and defusing it,also it is raised when being a doctor.
level:this is your level of experience this allows you to have more interrupts,gives you more percentage to have the first turn to you.10 is the maximum.it is raised for it self,by killing enemies and raising other stats,completing quests.
marksmanship:this is the percentage to hit an enemy with a weapon.it does not affect close combat like stabbing or hand to hand.it is raised by killing enemies in the head possibly :) this one is very easy to raise cause you`ll shoot and shoot :D
explosives:affects your ability to manage with explosives:mines,tnts,flares...this also affects the ability to defuse them and the ability to plant them without setting them off earlier which will be a bad thing to you.can be raised by finding mines in the fields,defusing explosives and planting them.
mechanical:affects the ability to repair stuff,high means less time to repair stuff also affects the ability to lock-pick things,and to merge items,place attachements to weapons.can be raised by lock-picking or repairing stuff.
medical:affects the ability of using the first aid kit to bandage yourself or others and the ability of being a doctor[this way you`ll heal you and others faster]it is raised by being a doctor or by using first aid kit.

*Special perks:
auto-weapons = gives you a bonus to hit something/someone when using a burst fire mode.
stealthy = means that your are less likely to make noise when in stealth mode.
heavy-weapons = when using a LAW or mortar you`ll be more accurate.
boxing = like it sais more damage in hand to hand and a bonus in hiting the enemy.
martial arts = has the sam effects like boxing i`ve never found out the difference.
electronics = more likely to succeed when defusing an electric based trap on the door or when using an electric based item,it gives you a bonus to anything that is related to electricity.
night ops = you have better sight and stelth at night not usefull during day.
teaching = you train militia or teach other mercs faster.
trown weapons = you`re more accurate with trown weapons like knifes,grenades...
knifing = stabbing does more damage and it gives a bonus to hit.
camoflouge = you are less likely to be seen,during night is like permanent camoflouge.
ambidextrous = you are better with using two weapons,more accurate with two pistols or two SMGs.
lock-picking = more likely to pick a lock.

There are 3 difficulties:novice,experienced and expert,each will determinate with how much money you`ll start with,how strong will the enemies be and how many percentage of loyality you need to train militia.There are also some other game difficulties like :iron man or save anytime,the first one don`t allows you to save when in combat.There is a gun option: normal or tons of guns,the other will give you on each sector where a combat had taken place more than 10 weapons.So you`ll be armed and don`t worry of getting without ammunition with this option :).There are two styles of game: realistic and sci-fi.The diference between the two is that in sci-fi the qeen is developing some kind of mutant bugs which will attack your mine till you kill the bug queen,an intersting quest.

Summary: very good game
