What can i say about knockout kings? I am not a huge fighting games fan, although i am partial to a bit of soul calibur on the dreamcast, but all my friends are guys so i was stuck with it all weekend! well, i got right into it. To get me on board, the guys named our boxer Lisa Goddess and let me choose his shorts. Treat me like a typical woman then. Well, my shot came and after being shown the basic moves, i won. easy. So i did some training. The training is excellent, really does get you to know the moves you can do unlike many other games where you just have to work it out while you fight. If you complete the training well, you will get ten points to add to ... Read the complete review

Knockout Kings 2001 is so pre-eminent among PS1 boxing sims that its nearest rival is a crackpot loony called READY 2 RUMBLE who doesnt even try to box. confidently, EA has put Knockout Kings up into the PS2 division with a quick polish and not much more. The three modes, Exhibtion, Quick play and career, remain in place the first two are one or two player fights but still has heavy, middle or lightweight. In the game the corner men give you good advice, but you cant talk back to them. the gameplay still remains pretty much intact,as well, with the emphasis on ringcraft and counter-punching rather then mighty arm swinging. also included in this one there are ... KK 2001 isn't quite a ragging bull in a china shop, more De Niro at the end of the movie, a fat slugger, reflecting on what could have been. Long on mood but short on action. Boxing games never really worked on the playstation.Round after round of bobbing, weaving, and tactical slugging never seem that exciting when the Marquis of Queensbury has forbidden sommersult kicks and overhead body slams. On the great grey box it always has been more fun to be grappler Prince Albert then pugilist Prince Naz.Now EA's Knockout kings 2001 is ready not to out-fight the big name beat'em ups, but to out think them. Rather then the big afro, big punching ... Read the complete review

I bought this game and finished it in under a day. That says it all really. Graphically its not fantastic and you seem to have to knock your opponents down 4 or 5 times before they stay down. The boxers seem to take an age to react to your button presses, especially when switching from head punches to body punches. The Career mode championship is pretty easy to win and then you defend the title a few times and then you'll never play it again. Not the worst game ever made but very mediocre. ...
