*****Little Big adventure not Lands of Lore 3*****

Little Big Adventure 2 is a game that I have had for ages. It has sat in the corner collecting dust till last week when I was tidying up my collection. It compelled me to stick it in the drive and I’m glad that I did.

LBA2 is a RPG game. Groan or cheer now depending on your preferences. It is thoroughly outdated now and the first thing I did was laugh at the graphics. They are terrible. The animation is also terrible as is the voice acting and the movements of the characters, in fact anything visual is frankly horrible. It really shows you how much games have changed if nothing else.

For me this didn’t make much of a difference as I have always had a soft spot for retro games so bad graphics don’t bother me. Some people may be fazed by this, and if you know that you value graphics I would advise you to steer clear of this game entirely.

However if you favour gameplay above graphics and like RPGs then this is a good game to get. It maybe a bit rare now but it can’t be so rare as to warrant a high price £5 should see you with this game.

The game itself is right back to basics RPGing, talk to someone, search for an item or person, repeat. However the storyline is quite good if a little childish. There are plenty of weird characters which is always entertaining and the game is quite big, probably 10 hours long.

You play Twinsen, saviour of Twinsun, the planet, who has to thwart evil Dr FunFrock’s plans to destroy the planet. Armed with your magic ball >insert childish giggles here< you must bring peace to not one but two planets. The game is predictable yet fun. There are a few glitches evident and if you miss one conversation you can end up wandering around for hours before you A-rip up the cd or B-find out what to do.

The controls are simple which echoes the game in its entirety. If you are new to RPGs this m
ay prove challenging but if you are a veteran it is a leisurely but fun walk in the park.

Not a bad game overall with just its looks letting it down severely. 3 stars
