Metal Slug X is among the most delayed games ever to appear on the PlayStation format. Originally set for release in June 2002, fans had to wait an agonising 14 months of set-backs, development/publishing difficulties and unforeseen problems before it eventually received a UK release in early August of 2003. Still, it wasn’t all bad news; during the fourteen months that it was in limbo, the ‘small appreciation’ surrounding Metal Slug X had snowballed into a ‘large cult’ following, and unexpected chart success subsequently followed.
