Advantages: original looking tracks
Disadvantages: characters, gameplay, whole things a bit boring really
Having loved the micro machines games, I rented this out for a couple of nights to see if it was any good before I went and bought it. well I guess it was a well spent £3.50 as I know i don't want to buy the game! Firstly i guess i didn't look at the box properly and the cute little tiny people wearing crash helmets in the picture turned out to be a selection of wierd and fairly ugly, not cute monsters, including one particulary disturbing cross between a little girl holding a teddy bear and a mutant with half its brain hanging out. The gameplay is alright but nothing compared to micro machines and the tracks while being fairly original still, somehow lack the charm of the previous games. It is somewhat strange controlling a character that is running as opposed to driving a car on screen and they do tend to respond to your every little move so it is quite difficult to keep them on track. The special moves are not particularly great and 9 times out of 10 the person attempting the special move ends up killing themselves instead of their opponent (or at least thats what happened to me and the friend I played it with). Worth renting I suppose if your a game addict and have played most of the other games in your video shop, but I definately wouldn't recommend buying it as it gets boring incredibly quickly once you've stopped being amused by the patter of the characters feet as they run around the track.
