Advantages: classic cars make a wellcome change

Disadvantages: Nothing to do but drive

Do you yearn for the good old days, Driving classic open top sports cars around the stunning European countryside, The wind blowing through your hair. Then this game might just take you some of the way to achieving that. Based on the famous race of yesteryear Mille Miglia, A 1000 mile race with the likes of Jackie Stewert.

The game itself has five modes of play, Random race, Arcade, Time Trial, 2 player battle and championship. With championship being the main part. You can pick a classic old racing car dating from 1927 to 1957 from one of three classes, and then try to progress through the champion ship. only playing this mode can you unlock hidden cars and tracks.

Arcade mode allows you to race any stage of the game without going through the whole championship, But 5 stages will have to be unlocked by winning championships. Time Trial allows you to set fast times on any stage (except unlocked stages). 2 player battle lets you race a friend and Random game you just trust to luck.

The cars look stunning and range from old Mercedes, Alfa Romaos, Lancia's to Ferrari's and Porsche's and are well detailed. The controls handle very well and are easy to pick up. The AI of the other cars is pretty good, sometimes too good as they always seem to win a two-way tussle. The scenery is well designed and highly detailed, But the game runs so fast you don't get to see it, And with authentic engine and screeching tyre sounds the whole race looks exhilarating.

The game suffers from a lack of changeable options, No garage to fine tune your car, No parts to replace or change and no crash damage to repair. You can't enter your own name so you don't know your fast laps if more than one person plays. And no driver names to play as. Basically you just race, which is no good to race game fans like myself who like to mess with settings. With only 10 stages this game might not appeal for long but at least they look great. With gam
es like V-Rally 2 and Grand Torismo 2 games need more than this to keep people playing.

Overall its a fair game but with so many good racing games out there I don't think this will be a best seller, Maybe this is one to hire for a few days.
