Mission - Impossible (PS)

Make of my title what you will ,my title is like asking if the glass is half empty or half full, I couldn't decide whether to call my opinion "as bad as the film" or "as good as the film", in the end I decided to be positive. Before I continue this review I can say that I am almost certain that if you liked the film, you will like this game, and if you didn't like the film then you will probably feel the same way about this game. Mission: Impossible is a very poor game. The N64 version wasn't up to much, and neither was the latecoming PSX version. It has to be said that the game is OK in parts and I enjoyed the demo that I played where all the controls were available. Sadly, in the full-version, you can only jump on certain levels, and the controls are a nightmare to use. The game is soooooo annoying that that is the only aspect that could constitute an addiction factor, but the only reason you want to play it is the same reason you want to smash the school bully's face in: because they tease and annoy you until you can't stand it anymore. Why didn't the creators just stick to the style of the classic N64 game Goldeneye. That game could not be faulted, unlike this one. This game takes up the view behind and above the agent Ethan Hunt. Ethan Hunt is thought to be the leak in the CIA and he is arrested and taken to their headquarters from here he manages to escape and then steal the NOC list and deal with Max, the woman that the real leak sells his information to. This is a game that you should not be fooled by. Despite being tackled by a decent production team, it became a rather poor title. Average graphics and a poor interface make this game uncomfortable to play - it should have been a good title, and it would have been popular too, with the M.Impossible name to it. There's plenty of action involved, and some sneeking around etc, following the movie, sort of, and there's puzzles to be solved. Don't be too amazed by the difficulty either, it's not great. Alright, this is not the best game on the console, but it is good in its way. The graphics and gameplay are NOT very good, but the idea, the gadgets and the puzzels are not quite so bad. Basically, don't expect Goldeneye, this is not a shot 'em up. This is more like the game "Men In Black", though not as good.
