Friday August 5, Crow's Bridge After days of marching, our rest at Crow's Bridge has turned to boredom. The army passed through this village three days ago on our way to the city of Madrigal which is threatened by the armies of Shiver, one of the Fallen Lords. Soon the battle that may decide the fate of the Northern Lands will be joined there, but not for us. A small force of warriors and archers, not to mention a particularly surly dwarf named Vnarvin have been left here under my command to guard the old stone bridge across the river. I bought Myth the Fallen Lords as part of the compilation Ten Tons of Fun. After trying out most of the games, it was apparent that Myth was easily the best game here. It was first released in 1997 and is a 3D strategy game based on fantasy adventure characters. The standard characters available to you are knights, archers, wizards and dwarves that throw firebombs and blow everything up. The game is highly addictive and each level has a target to reach in order to proceed to the next level, and this is explained to you before the level starts. Myth throws you into a world already over run by the forces of evil. The forces of dark vastly outnumber the forces of light and it stands for the few remaining pockets of human resistance to try to swing the balance back in their favour by finding mysterious artifacts of ancient power, assassinating major figures in the opposing armies, winning key position and such like. The odds are infinitely stacked against you and rather than pitching you into battle on an equal standing with tough battle-hardened troops who can take a lot of punishment Myth gives you some very mortal soldiers indeed.
