The original Parasite Eve game was one of many Japanese games that failed to get a release over in Europe, but hopes were high when Squaresoft announced that it's sequel, the simply titled Parasite Eve 2, was to get a release outside of Japan and the US. PE2 mixes the action, puzzles and graphical style of a survival-horror game with the statistical and interactive influence of an R.P.G, and the results are utterly spectacular. Aya Brea is is a member of an FBI sub-division called MIST, who specialise in clean-up operations and bounty-hunting in the field genetically mutated creatures. When Aya goes on a mission to rid an LA skyscraper of these, she ... Read the complete review

Right! Power ON. Good Start! I was impressed with the FMV. And then there it was the same old resi-style control but wait! MAGIC! That’s right the big twist to this beauty is the fact that you have Parasitic Energy to cast spells on your self, to make you stronger, healthier and more defensive Out of your 4 abilities Water, Fire, Electricity, and Defence each has 3 different spells a 1 special hidden each with 3 different levels the special gained when all the standard ones are maxed. You can put spells on all the little and big things that jump out on you like Fire Bursts, Flames Explosions, Electro Bolts, Charges and Blasts. With this arsenal Ayea is one tough ... Being an avid fan of the original, I was greatly anticipating the release of the sequel. In the first few moments of the cinematic sequence at the beginning, I was taken back into the original plot line. The story was carried over well, and had reasonable explanataions for why Aya would look even younger than she did in the first edition. The story line is a tad vague in some areas, but others are so detailed that they actually delve into light genetics and physiology. The explanations of the PE abilities alone show forethought on the part of the designers. The interface and battle system are a good bit different from the original. There are instances where you ... This is an excellent roleplay game where you control Aya Brea, working for MIST, trying to eliminate strange creatures called NMCs. Aya herself actually has part NMC inside her but she had treatment. This means she can no longer use her special powers unless you revive them (One power, Pyrokenisis, has already been revived). Parasite Eve 2 combines the adventure of Resident Evil & Dino Crisis with extra battling. You enter a battle mode in which you target and eliminate enemies, then you get a result where you will recieve BP (for buying weapons), EXP (For reviving powers), MP (For using powers) and occasionally special items and HP (Health). The one ... Read the complete review

As some of you may know, I'm a big fan of these kinda survival horror adventurey games. So, along with many other brit gamers, I was very disappointed to discover that Square's offering, Parasite Eve, was not to be released in the UK. Scandalous! But, funnily enough, they saw fit to release its sequel, the imaginatively named Parasite Eve II here instead. So I can't really fill you in on the previous storyline but as far as I can gather your main character, the sassy (if a little uninspiring) Aya Brea, has previously encountered ANMCs or Artificial Neo Mitochondrian Creatures and they are once again causing trouble. What a surprise.... The plot is, ... Read the complete review
