On Christmas Eve 1997, Aya Brea, of the NYPD's 17th Precinct Force, is in attendance at an opera in New York's Carnegie Hall, when suddenly actors and audience spontaneously combust, excepting herself and an actress whom on being asked by Aya answers to the name of Eve. A cinematic RPG based on Hideaki Sena's novel of the same name, Parasite Eve covers the six days beginning with this incident, with what is to follow a battle for survival between human race and mitochondria. Once upon a time games used to be colourful and cute platform with little plumbers or hedgehogs, Then came a new type of game, the survival horror role playing game. And thank god for that something for us adults to enjoy. Resident Evil is properly the game that brought them to the attention of the mass market. And is still one of the best, But this game Parasite Eve comes a very close second. With less puzzles and more game content spread over 2 discs. I have to admit that I had mixed feeling about Parasite Eve before I played it. On one hand, people were calling it a horror masterpiece. On the other hand, it was also being called a cheap rip off of Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil 2. However, Parasite Eve is much more than these games. Granted, it has its flaws. However, if you look pass all the criticism, you will find a true jewel. Storylines are the major aspects of a true RPG, and Parasite Eve delivers a true epic tale, that pushes the envelope even further than what I ever imagined from the companies past efforts. The storyline settles down in Manhattan, New York. This is where EVE will begin her first ... Read the complete review

I had heard from a friend in Japan that if I like Resi Evil and Final Fantasy I should try the cross over type game. Parasite Eve. So I searched and searched but eventually had to buy it on Import. But it was worth it. Never released in England, I soon found out, it is easily one of the best survial horrors ever. The idea is great crossing a game like Resident Evil with the roleplaying of Final Fantasy. You take on the role of Aya Brea. A standard NYPD cop who one day, while at the opera, encouters a creature that isn't human. SHe soon embarks on the adventure of a lifetime that uncovers powers she didn't know she had and secrets of ... Read the complete review
