There are only two R Types (R Type and R Type II) here in this collection but they are pretty darn good games anyway you look at it and both are very challenging shooters. The reason the score is so high is because now I can save my high scores to a memory card and you can continue a game for later thanks to a level select option for both games. R Types here surprisingly doesn't suck! The Original R Type: First released over here in 1987 by Nintendo in the arcades R Type was a single quarter stand up arcade shooting game in deep space. So what was so special about this game anyway? The near impossible difficulty, the eerie space music, the new and ... Read the complete review

R-Type and R-Type II are classic of the horizontally scrolling shoot'em up world. Originally arcade machine released by IREM the games have been ported to many different platforms. Despite this the first time I played either of them was about 4 years ago usng the RAGE emulator on a PC. The reason that it is so hard is that you have to master every of your ship to finish the game. Though early levels require a bit of memorization of enemy patterns, higher levels have all sorts of challenges, including the final boss of R-Type, which is based on pure reflexes, concentration and skill as enemies pour in from all sides. Other stages are just brilliant, such as the assault against the massive mothership. ... Read the complete review

Even now its main mode is far superior to that of any other game. The footy game that followed Attitude, WWF Smackdown, lacked two important features that Attitude has. Firstly, a good Creat-a-Wrestler mode. On Smackdown there is hardly any selection available, and you can only select head, top and bottom instead of being able to select hair, facial features, hats, T-Shirts, vests, belts, trousers, shorts, boots, shoes, etc etc. And also Smackdown lacks commentary. One of Attitude's strongest points is that is has commentating. ... Read the complete review
