Silent Bomber possesses a very rare quality; it is a Japanese game which loses none of its credibility in the European market. I first came across this game in a magazine which gave it a very favourable review but stated that it was only lined up for a Japanese release. Typical I thought, although 90% of videogaming software produced in the Far East wouldn't stand a chance of selling over here whenever a promising game is developed UK publishers never have the sense (or the balls) to risk a release. Sin and punishment for the N64 is a prime example of this, a game I'm dying to get my grubby hands on but alas, no such luck. Hell, even super smash brothers nearly ... Read the complete review

The title of Bandai’s latest hit release is certainly misleading, as the antics of Jutah Fate in SILENT BOMBER are anything but quiet…! The intro explains how the planet Hornet is under threat from a fanatical religious organisation and Jutah (silent ‘J’) and his team are sent to destroy the massive war cruiser leading the attack. As they approach, the cruiser opens fire and most of the team is destroyed leaving Jutah to complete the task alone. Visualise if you can , Bomberman on the old SNES and Mega Drive (or Genesis depending). You set down bombs so that they blow up to destroy enemies in a tactical manner one way or another. Thats basically the thinking behind Silent Bomber . You set down bombs , you blow them up , you get points , advance on and blow up more enemies , structures etc.. until you meet an end-of-level boss of a kind who is beaten in one way or another by tactical postioning of the bombs. This may sound simple but Silent Bomber is so much more. This game never stops it just keeps blowing up and enemies keep on firing in from each and every direction (with no visual slowdown might ... Silent bomber finally provides Playstation owners with a stylish and well-rounded action game (something which the PSX hasn't seen in a very long time). IF YOU JUST WANNA KNOW HOW GOOD THE GAME IS RATHER THAN EXACTLY HOW IT WORKS, IGNORE THE TEXT UNTIL RE-READ! You run around blowing up everything you see with either a lock on/throw system (used by holding down square then tapping it for each bomb thrown), or by setting bombs on the ground (just press square to either set bombs apart, or stacked in the same place -creating a large blast radius), then you detonate the bombs by pressing triangle. You can also pick up material bombs (paralysis, gravity or ... Read the complete review
