This is the third in a trilogy of PlayStation platform games starring the young fire-breathing dragon "Spyro". In this third adventure, there haven't been many technological advances since the last episode (Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer), but there have been some new twists to the gameplay. Is this game then any better than the last two? STORLINE / CHARACTERS ====================== The scene is this: an evil sorceress, living in the "Forgotten Worlds", has captured 150 dragon eggs to help her in some obscure spell. Her army of Rhynocs is also creating a lot of discomfort for the people of these worlds. Spyro is given the job of ... Read the complete review

Spyro 3 for me is the last great Spyro game. Insomniac were great at making the Spyro games but as soon as it was sold to Sierra it just seemed to get worse and worse for me. Spyro 3 all starts with the dragons celebrating the 'Year of the Dragon' and it is all going well until a rabbit girl thing called Bianca goes and steals the dragon eggs along with her minions (she doesn't steal her minions) and this is where the story starts. You start in one of four home worlds, called Sunrise Spring Home. Each home world consists of levels which you have to enter and complete just like in previous Spyro games. But in this one you have to collect the dragon ... Read the complete review

Spyro the Dragon burst onto the PlayStation back in late 1998. This cute 'n' colourful platformer provided the most free-roaming levels sinc the release of Gex 3D, more than a year earlier. Most gamers settled on the opinion that whilst it looked great and was good fun, it was lacking in long-term appeal. Not long after Spyro's first adventure was released, Crash Bandicoot 3 came along and packed a graphical, playability and longeivity triple punch and it seemed that the cuddly purple dragons fifteen minutes of fame were up. A sequel was announced. More fun-but-shallow platforming we thought. How wrong. Spyro 2: Gateway To Glimmer appeared and ... Read the complete review

If you are familiar with the Spryo history, then Spryo YOTD, is pretty much the same basis. Our intrepid hero, back after a well deserved break, Flies to a new world.....with.........yes you guessed, more danger, more enemies, more treasures, more secrets. No longer do you have to free the dragons, now you are challenged to free the dragon eggs, which have been stolen by the evil Sorceress for her evil majic! To retrieve the eggs, and make the worlds safe once more you have to work your way through the four worlds. In each world are several "mini" worlds, all with a different theme. The usual treats await you, collect all the treasure to ... Read the complete review

If Spyro 1 was cute but easy and Spyro 2 was harder but duller, the Spyro 3 is everything that they both wanted to be! When a wicked sorceress (and her pretty young trainee!) steals the baby dragon eggs from the sleeping dragons of Avalar, Spyro is put on the case. Accompanied by Zoe and Hunter from the previous games, along with constant companion Sparx the Dragonfly, he sets of to recover the missing babies, and a good few gems, too. The place where most cute platformers fall down is with the plot – there usually isn’t one. But no one told the makers of the Spyro series. Year of the dragon has a plot better than most Hollywood ... Read the complete review
