===INTRODUCTION===

Tekken 2 is the second installment to the Tekken fighting game series. It is widely regarded by many fans of the series as the best and most impactful of the series so far having a big cast of characters and storylines as well as taking full advantage of the Sony playstation's graphical capabilities, which at the time Tekken 2 was released in 1996, were pretty ahead of their time.

Tekken 2 was a very popular game in the 1990's. When 3D gaming was a rarity, the Tekken series seemed to seemingly jump up and literally, kick you in the face. Tekken 2 was a further advanced version of the first game in the series featuring a wider range of moves, characters and immersive storylines for each and every character that you could play as and unlock.

===CHARACTERS AND STORY====

Every character that you could play as had an in depth storyline that cross referenced with another characters storyline in some way. This was one of the things that made Tekken 2 very popular in comparison to some earlier fighting games that had been released on the Playstation in the previous year of 1995 when the Playstation was first emerging.

The main game story is linked to that of the first and featured the returns of many characters such as Yoshimitsu, Heihachi Mishima and his son, Kazuya Mishima. Kazuya of course is out for himself once again. In the previous installment, Kazuya bested his father n the King of the Iron Fist tournament after Heihachi learned of his sons evil ways. This time however, Kazuya has been possessed by a being known as Devil and Heihachi is back and is seeking revenge on his son. Will Heihachi be able to best his son and get his revenge?

===GAMEPLAY===

The gameplay style of Tekken is quite simple. It is a basic beat-em-up fighting game, yet as I previously mentioned, it takes advantage of the new-age Playstation graphics detailing a fully 3D environment. One of the main features of this epic title is the use of multi-directional movement, jumping and moves. This means that Fighting is no longer limited to the "left and right" side scrolling that it is used to, you are now able to move quite freely around the battle arena to a certain extent in order to make the most of your surroundings, making it much more diverse and difficult for both you and your opponent to judge each others next movement and take advantage.

While the gameplay may sound rather simple, it is much more complex than you may think. The battles are often more difficult than people give them credit for, especially the later battles with the likes of Kazuya. However, the often difficult fights adds much more strategic opportunities and of course much more satisfaction when you actually manage to win!

===OVERALL AND MY PERSONAL OPINIONS===

Tekken 2 is one of my personal favorite fighting games, and one of my favorite games overall on the Playstation system. It without a doubt defined what it meant to be a fighting game on a "next generation" system back in the 1990's, and it is one of the most enjoyable experiences in gaming to say the least. I have wasted many a night playing Tekken 2 over the years and every moment, while somewhat difficult and very challenging, was a minute well spent.

For any true fan of the fighting genre of video games, be sure to check out this title if you have never come across it in the past. I promise you will not be disappointed with the outcome.

Summary: A must for fighting fans

Personally, Tekken 3 is the series' peak for me. Having said this, Tekken 5 was nigh on perfection.
