Forget Tekken 2, get Tekken 3 (Tekken 2 (PS))

Advantages: Simple, fun, playable, good special moves, quite good fun playing against human friends

Disadvantages: Blocky/dry graphics, average sounds/music, some wooden character movement, boring playing against the computer, looks (and is) old, better off with Tekken 3

Having played Tekken 3 before this, I found Tekken 2 really dissapointing. I automatically would've been as the technology had advanced between the titles, and so the sequel was naturally going to be a superior product in terms of graphics and sound etc., but the playability of Tekken 3 makes this feel like you're pitting wooden characters against eachother, and it's indeed not far from it with noticably polygonic characters, dry backgrounds, and even though there's some cool tunes and music, the whole game just seems like it's an early 90's OAP.
I have to admit that some of the special moves are fun, and it is enjoyable inititating fights, though best against other human players, but that's as far as it goes. The whole appeal is deep rooted in the game alone, and it's only just about playable as it feels wooden. Tekken 3 is fluid, and apart from the gaming, it's a great product overall.
If you have Tekken 3, don't bother with this, if you don't have any just get Tekken 3 if you're into beat 'em ups, it might be a justifiable upgrade for Tekken 2 owners though.
Overall a not bad game, but the fact that there's a much much better sequel means that there's no prizes for which choice you should go for.
