Advantages: Good graphics, excellent characters

Disadvantages: None

Tekken 3 is the best "beat em up" you can get for the Playstation. In my mind Tekken was and still is the ultimate fighting game, and the game that was such a hit in the arcades transferred perfectly to the Playstation.

The main object is that 1 player v the PS or 2 players v each other try to beat the virtual living daylights out of each other. You do not need weapons, just hands and feet and the ability to put together some deadly kick/punch combinations. A 10 hit combo is the ultimate.

There are also the added features of Time Attack, Team Battle, Practice Mode, Survival Mode, and the brand new Tekken Force mode, which pits your character against various enemy fighters against the clock. If you get to the end of this, a new character called Dr Boskonovitch is revealed, and he is the scientist who was revealed after you completed Yoshimitsu on Tekken 2, but this time around he has suffered some injuries, and he spends most of his time fighting from the ground using some strange kicking moves.

You are also introduced to a cute little dinosaur called Gon, who breathes fire, and is a better fighter than his size leads you to believe, and I bored of him very quickly.

When you have conquered Tekken Force, you can then try Tekken Ball, which is basically volleyball with fight moves, and the ball can cause damage to your opponent.
There are lots of fighters to choose from, and some of the old favourites are back such as Paul Phoenix, and they do not look out of place as they have new moves to keep up with the new fighters. Saying that though, the new fighters are brill, and trying to work out their new moves is frustrating but worth the annoyance.

The graphics are an improvement and the fighters look less jumpy and more slicker overall.

Give it a try. Your fingers will hurt from pressing the buttons too hard, and you will be saying no it was best out of 10 not 3!!

After defeating Tekken 2 I went out and bought number 3, but then dooyoo came along and everything other than oping, reading and rating seems pointless now ;)

Must get round to this one day.....

Lisa :)
