Advantages: Addictiveness, Price, Longevity

Disadvantages: Superceeded by other Tekkens

As far I am aware, this game is available on platinum and is worth every penny.

For those who are not in the know, the Tekken series was created by Namco, one of japans leading game companies, and stems from Tekken 2 which was a flagship beat-em-up game for the playstation 1 released around 1995.

Tekken 1 and 2 were intensely memorable and addictive games, probably the best games released with the playstation. It went one step up from Streetfighter with slightly more realistic moves and defending strategies. Above all, the graphics went in 3D, although the fighting was still done more or less in one plane.

Tekken 3 is slightly more 3D allowing you to shuffle in and out of the screen, the graphics are much improved, and the menus are much easier to navigate. For the real addicts, there some extra much welcome bonus games such as the beachball kicking game and another complete clone of Final Fantasy / Double Dragon using the characters available and some more.

The game lasts forever, and nowadays is the only game I play on my playstation ever since my time crisis gun broke down. It has appeal to all IQs, all ages, and anyone with a drop of testosterone.

The other options available on the playstation 1 are Street fighter Alpha 3 and soul blade which are excellent additions, but appeal to previous street fighter fans or toshinden / soul calibre fans. Tekken has to be the prime choice. If you have tekken 2 then tekken 3 would be more fun than Street fighter 3, unless you used to have a snes.

The game can be purchased "on platinum" for around £15 over the net, amazon.com or game.co.uk...

I imagine it plays on playstation 2 also, so would make an ideal present, but it may be worthwile to check if youre victim hasnt got this game already.

If you can afford it, you may be pondering over buying Tekken 4 for the playstation 2. This has greater novelty value and possibly more street cred I imagine
, but it has little work put into it compared to Tekken 3. Unfortunately, the collision detection seems frustatingly poor, and the play speed is slightly slower. Of course the graphics are much improved, and as this may be important...some of the playability has been lost.

SUMMARY: Preceeding the release of the next Soul Calibre, Tekken 3 is probably the best legal fighting dose you could get on any platform :)

Two in a day is fine if the quality is good. This patently isn't. As Sly says, a good review can take a whole morning to write. Please make more of an effort.

You know its particular bad manners to produce a high quantity of ops in one day. Stick to one, and work on reading other peoples and you will draw in far more reads for your own ops. If you persist in "churning" out you ops people won't read them and you might get banned altogether.

I have an op that I've written today that has taken me most of the morning and it is already dropping of the front page (newest ops) because you have written two with 10 minutes of each other.
