briangilmour WWF Smackdown (PS): ... the WWF games were selling great but in truth they weren t that hot, sure they looked wonderful but the controls that Acclaim were putting out were the old Streetfighter combos and they just didn t sit right with a wrestling game. So when the Smackdown series started THQ took the game by the scruff of the neck and changed the control system entirley , what used to need a back back square , would simply need O+up .,...

bigbloomie1 WWF Smackdown (PS)
... smackdown is a weird game. There will be a LOT who dont like it, but many more will love it. Note- if you are not a wrestling fan you will not know what half the moves I describe in some sections are. Explaining them here would take forever. Think of this as an added *mystery* factor which hionestly adds an element of exploration about the game. Which is a good thing, just bear with me. Actual fighting Now this is addictive. There are a variety of superstars, each able to perform four moves (or two for more irregular positions) at each point. They can also do the odd reversal. The main variety of ways to attack your oppenonet are less powerful but easy to hit and...

... have WWF smackdown on my playstation. I played it a lot when I got it for Christmas as a present having especially asked for it having read a review in a magazine that praised it a lot. However, now I have become quite bored of it! It gets so tedious just hitting people around the ring that I don t think they should have made it so uninteresting. There are some nice special feature and cool characters, but they should have more things that you can do! They should have more strange characters and more special moves. The characters should have more freedom to move out of the ring. I think they should be able to hit people in the crowd! Because that would be very funny...

... is a very good introduction to wrestling games that i enjoyed playing every day untill i got the sequel: Smackdown 2, Know your role. The game is very good and interesring, the controls are easy to master and it has A LOT of playability. A lot of the characters look like the real life people but there are some e.g. The Rock that close up dont look at all like the real life characters. A good range of matches to do aswell but there are so many more match types to have on the sequel. The mutiplayer games are great fun allowing your mates to come round and play with you (as long as you have a multi tap). Also the characters are a bit outdated now as some people no l...
