... round. It sounds easy but at times can be very annoying especially when you have come in for new dry tyres and as soon as you come out of the pits it starts to rain. The other mode which is great fun is you drive a track and then you race the ghost car from your best lap time. This is one of those games that if you see in the shops in a bargain section you should buy. I wish they would bring another proper TOCA out soon. Overall it's a great game that you will spend hours of fun playing....more

ToCA 2 (PS): om the edge racing (83 words)

Rating:

there isn't much to criticise the original toca other than looking a bit bland and not having many options.toca 2's graphics are a massive inprovement though there nothing like the quality of gran turismos. the better trackside detail makes things look more realistic.the new cars such as tvrs and lister storms are great new additions asnd the championship is nail biting from star to finish with the possiblity of being fired.this will test your driving skills to the max. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mirror, Signal, Manoevre......... (340 words)

Rating:

This game is based around the British Touring Car Championsip, in which 'boring' family cars such as Ford Mondeos, Vauxhall Vectras and their ilk battle against each other for supremacy on the track. They may be souped up versions of the road cars, but they are still road cars and this game is very good at simulating the way they handle. It seems to be very realistic, without being too difficult. The game can be played in various different guises, from a one off quick race of just 3 laps or so, right through to a full season consisting of more than 20 races at all the circuits including Silvertsone, Donington, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ToCA 2 (PS): Fun, but flawed (419 words)
by - written on 20/04/01 (Very useful, 42 readings)
Rating:

TOCA 2 Touring Cars is the second in the TOCA series (really!), providing better graphics, better sound and better gameplay than 1997's original. The rough and tumble touring cars are perfect subjects for a computer game, and while TOCA 2 is a fairly good representation of the sport, it lacks the quality to make it a truly great game. Load the game up and the first thing you'll notice is how the game looks. In a word - stunning. The cars are recognisable shapes as well as having the correct paintschemes, and no two circuits have similar looking scenery. All of the 1998 touring car racetracks are included, from the bland, flat-out Thruxton to the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Toca can be beaten? (115 words)
by - written on 04/07/00 (Very useful, 15 readings)
Rating:

When the original Toca Touring Cars game came out, I couldn't get enough of it. It was a new standard to set all racing games by. But now, what with Gran Turismo on the market at the same price, it's always going to be beaten. But to surprise us further, Toca 2 came out. And so Gran Turismo 2 came out. Toca 2 was and is a good game by anyone's standards, but the trouble is it is starting to get dated and the graphics are very blocky compared to the likes of Ridge Racer Type 4. However, it is still a pretty realistic game and if you buy it now you won't be disappointed. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ToCA 2 (PS): Toca 2 a real must have for racer fans (148 words)
by - written on 08/08/00 (Useful, 115 readings)
Rating:

Toca 2 is quite simply the best sequel racer i have ever played, it's not as if the first version had anything wrong with it in fact it was probably one of the best racers of its time. Toca 2 really gives you a challenge which is why it is so playable having to take every corner perfectly and unlike most other racers on the playstation your oponents are not at all easy to fight of. The cars are excellently presented in great detail and look real slick in the end of race replays. The sound is almost as if its been recorded at trackside with realistic gear changes, especially when your in the cockpit view and a nice crunching sound is given off when you prang it. ...  Read the complete review
