The year is 2008. Due to all manner of infighting issues, Mother Russia has collapsed like a pensioner in a cold snap, leaving gun-toting nationalists to get up to all sort of mischief in the surrounding countries, backed up by tanks, machine-gun embankments and all manner of high-power military weaponry. Something must be done. The odds are high; the stakes are higher, and only one man can save the day… One man, that is, backed up by countless highly-trained special forces troops, with state of the art firepower at their disposal! The emphasis of the first person shoot-em-up has changed over the past four or five years. Advancements in computer game technology has enabled developers to create ever more realistic scenarios for the gamer...and also credit them with some intelligence. That is, while the straightforward 'Doom'-style action blaster might be entertaining, it never quite sat right. The whole 'Health Bar' idea required massive suspension of disbelief - could a human, being thwarted on a fruitless raid on an enemy stronghold, really withstand five shots from a double-barrelled shotgun?
