... The point is, Tomb Raider is worthy of being seen as a classic, due to the influences it had in the gaming world, and Lara is still seen as a major video game icon over 15 years later. Pretty impressive, huh? As previously mentioned, in Tomb Raider you play as Lara Croft, an upper class English adventurer who has her hands on her own extensive mansion, complete with her own butler. Living the life of luxury quickly gets boring for this adrenaline seeker, so she takes up the offer to retrieve an artifact for a wealthy ...more

1996 marked the début of the Tomb Raider franchise. Combining Indiana Jones style artefact collecting with clever puzzles and platform sections, perhaps the selling point of this early Tomb Raider release was the inclusion of an athletic heroine named Lara Croft. Originally released on the Sega Saturn, Tomb Raider was shortly ported onto the Playstation 1, which marked the rapid increase in popularity for the game. If you recall back to 1996, the gaming world was going mad with Lara Croft fever. Not only was she one of the first women in gaming to achieve this level of popularity, but the success of the original Tomb Raider spawned an impressive number of ...  Read the complete review

Tomb Raider is the first in the series of video games featuring Lara Croft. It came out in 1996 and we bought the Play Station version. The game is very basic up to today's standards but it is still very enjoyable to play especially if you have smaller children as they seem to relate more to the story going on in this game what with the animals and the puzzles you have to do. The story is that Lara has been hired by someone called Jacqueline Natla to find an artifact which is thought to be in Peru somewhere. When Lara finds it she knows it is part of a larger artiact called the Scion and she wants to find the whole thing. There is a ...  Read the complete review

Lara Croft became an unlikely phenomenon and pin-up when the first Tomb Raider game was unleashed in 1995. Even now, with gaming heroines the norm, Lara continues to lead the way - the recent Tomb Raider Chronicles was the fifth in the series and the first Tomb Raider movie, starring Angelina Jolie, arrives soon. In anticipation, we take a fresh look at where it all began... Cleavage, eh? What can I say about cleavage that hasn’t been said a thousand times before? What possible cliché-ridden sentence could I employ to describe the wondrous and awe-inspiring spectacle that is the cleave… hang on a minute… no, sorry, my mistake. ...  Read the complete review

I'm really going for a great op this time... This game is amazing and unless you've been locked underground for quite a few years you should have heard about one or another aspect of the game. This game revolutionised gaming with it's breath-taking 3d worlds and fantastic gameplay. But before I go on about the rest lets get to the: Storyline(not revealing too much...): <><><><><><><> You play Lara Croft, daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft, the agile, slender, intelligent and above all witty world-famous archaeologist/adventurer, who lost her parents at a young age. Once after coming back from a skiing trip, her ...  Read the complete review

As the series now includes it's 5th title, it is easy to look back at the original tomb raider as some what dated. To be honest, it is just that...... in most ways. I do however feel that the original has a certain feel to it that easy explains tomb raiders success. most levels have a cheerful look to them, and most offer a reasonable challenge to any gamer, this makes you want to revisit your favourite levels again and again. (My brother's favorite is the lost valley.) This i feel is a failing in the more recent versions of tomb raider, as re-visiting levels is near enough imposible due to the new saving system, giving the first three tomb raiders a clear ...  Read the complete review
