Advantages: great options, great gameplay

Tony Hawks pro skater 2is, for all accounts, a great sequel. It has the formula and gameplay of the first one with better graphics and some amazing extras that escaped the first escepade.

First let us look at teh Create a skater (or whatever it is called). Imean sure it may be a bit limited with not as much choice as one might expect but how many games have the capability at all?? Hardly any is the answer i was looking for. And even in the small choices that ARE available there is some pretty cool clothing and setups. I especially liked the bath cap that could be chosen for the characters head, and the fact that you can choose whether your skater rides goofy or regular. That is one nifty ability.

Then there is the level creator.This has so many items that can be chosen to be put in your park it is amazing.From Half Pipes to pyramid boxes to stair sets to Taxi Cab jumps. Yes thats right...a TAXI CAB!! It is ALL there!! Also there is the fact that you can choose how long and wide your amazing park is gonna be AND you can even have it outdoors, indoors, FActory or School YArd!! how amazing is that?!Apart from that you can decide the start place for the characters (and the ycan both start in completely different places!!)and you can even choose the gaps (that appear as blue words) and you can even name them!! One of the downsides to this, is that, when the skatepark that you have made (or one of the hundred or so pre-made ones) are played, teh rails and other items seem to be double the size of the skater and it looks all wrong. They are out of proportion soooo bad.

I guess now i will go on to the career mode, the options and the soundtrack. The career has been expanded greatly and changed from teh last one. Instead of collecting tapes which give you better stats , better decks and new levels, you now have to collect money to buy new stats and decks. (and you can even buy new moves from a GREAT selection). More moves also means hundreds of new
combos, and believe me ther IS a lot of them!! Then of course theres the characters. As well as the old characters (Hawk, Thomas, Steamer, Rowley) there is also some newones (Cabalerro, Mullen And Koston).Then ther is the characters you win. There is good old Officer Dick, but now there is also Spiderman and an 80's Tony Hawk. how cool is that?!?!The levels themselves are also more varied with courses in France Mexico and USA. Last time the ywere al in the US. Also each level has been doubled in size, with ten objectives to complete instead of five and harder scores (250,000 compared to 50,000). This gives the game a bit of variety. The options are way better than in teh first one. Now there is Videos of each character which you get when you complete the game with a character. You also get cheats such as Kid Skaters and backwards levels as well as two NEW levels.Then there is the Gap Checklist which lets you see what gaps you have got on each level and how much points they are worth. When you get every gap in the game there is a little surprise for you. try it and you'll see what i mean.Also there is a demo of MAtt Hoffmans BMX which is pretty rad! The soundtrack itself is better than the first one. This time bands such as Rage AGinst the Machine and Papa Roach and Bad Religion are on it which is really good!! Thats without mentioning Lagwagon who have the best song on teh game.

The only downers on tis game are the difficulty and the Realness. Once you have completed the game with one of the characters it is to easy to do it with the rest. Also the amount of air that the skaters get would be almost impossible in real life. They just couldn't get that high. But apart from that the game is pretty amazing.
