Tony Hawks Pro Skater (1999) Originally for PlayStation Developed by Neversoft Published by Activision What's that you've got there then? A skateboarding game? Okay, well let's have a go. I don't play computer games myself. Addictive? No, computer games aren't addictive. Don't be silly. No, you can't have the controller back, I've just got to do this 360 benihana into a frontside smith grind, then you can have it. What do you mean it's five o'clock in the morning and we haven't eaten for 36 hours? You're blocking the screen! Can't you see I'm about to unlock the Downhill Jam playing as Bob Burnquist? No you can't have the CD back. Hey, no, ... Read the complete review

There is nothing quite like getting together with a group of mates, sitting down with a few beers and having a contest on Tony Hawks Pro Skater. The original game is what set the whole series on a roll. Its fantastic gameplay along with its huge gaming abilities made it popular fast. You can choose from a variety of professional skaters in the game. You then enter the single player mode where you can perform many different stunts and tricks all taken from the real life professionals. For the stunts you perform you receive points and you can earn stat points by completing missions. These stat points can be used to increase your skaters ... Read the complete review

This is, hands down, the greatest game for the Nintendo 64. It features authentic skaters, it has genuine tricks, it has skaters’ real signature moves, and you can actually skate on your skater’s signature board! This game is extremely simple to learn, and insanely arduous to master. The simple tricks are easy to execute on first try, while some of the complex grinding combos can take weeks of practice to master. The graphics are very realistic, and the music is *real* alternative music. The several modes of play kept me playing for hours at a time, and the two-player capability is great fun. If you love skateboarding, if your not a fan of skateboarding (like ... Read the complete review

This was much better than I thought it would be. The game is brilliant and very addictive. The levels are also very addictive but only because they are hard and vary so much. The levels are realistic. They do these moves easily although they look backbreaking. They spend about 10 minutes in the air and spin around at speeds you can follow with your eyes easily. You can spin, flip and grab to accumulate points. The aim is to try and get as many of these points as possible in each level. You get points by performing tricks. There are objectives on each of the levels such as score 8000 points to get a tape. There are 5 tapes on each level and the more tapes you ... Read the complete review

Well, it's a skateboarding game. You skate. That round it up? Yes, and no. Yes, you do skate on it, but there is a bit more for that. Pull tricks, get points. Do tricks, get tapes. Also, challenges (collect secret tape, collect S K A T E) will get you tapes too. Tapes get you better boards and more levels. Great system, very rewarding. Oh I may also mention the learning curve on this is perfect. Like many other games, Spryo 2 and 3 for example. The gameplay is good and immersive, the graphics are sharp, better with a SCART lead, and it will last you a long time. Well, that's about it in this opinion. Till the next one, bye. ...
