Advantages: New units, New maps, New storyline
Disadvantages: Same engine
As far as sequel's go, this is at the top, it incorporates plenty of new units (a total of 75), including hovercraft, which changes the whole gameplay, it has new of everything. There are 25 new levels, which give a second storyline to the game, basically the core, which appear to have been destroyed, re appear and make a last stand, and succeed, but are pushed back and utterly destroyed, alternatively you play as the core and push and win. There is a massive new unit- the Krogoth, which basically kills anything that gets in its way, with an annihilator gun on its head, multiple rockets on its back, gauss cannons on each arm, and about 5x more armour than the commander. Not a nice thing to meet. The graphics and gameplay are exactly the same, as nothing much else has changed. But there are many new multiplayer maps, and it is great fun playing someone without TA:CC because you can slaughter them with the new units (that is providing you have the PC version.) and you can play the computer in skirmishes. The game, as with the original TA, is very fun to play, and although can be slow in places, it is generally fast paced later on in the game, with very large scale battles (50 or more units either side) The music, which i found in the first game to be very good isnt improved on, as you need the original game CD to play, as so the music is taken from there, so dont expect anything new there, yet the original music is one of the best i've heard in a game. (Based on PC version, there could be more on the PS version) You can get hold of this game for £10 or less in some places, and if you have TA, it?s well worth getting. It adds many new solid days playing to the game. For people who don?t know what the original Total Annihilation is, it is a Real time strategy game, taking place far into the future, where only machines rule, giant robots battle in 2 great powers, the Core (which is seen to be the "baddies") and th
e Arm. They have mostly equivalent units both sides. The game is 2d and is seen from above. There are units from Planes and other airborne units, as well as Vehicles and K-bots (mostly biped robots) and lastly Sea units- submarines and boats. The game is based around mining metal and producing energy through varied means of production. The story of the original involves the two sides battling through ravaged planets from one to another, eventually pushing to the homeworld of the other side (depending on which side you play as). You progress and get bigger and better units as you play the game. It also has a skirmish mode, where you can have many sides playing, including allies on well designed maps (also multiplayer on the PC version). Beware, although the game is old, you actually need a PC that is reasonable, P500 or more and at least 256mb of ram for the game to run perfectly, ignore the specification it says on the box, especially on skirmish maps. Beware, it is a pretty addictive game, and skirmish games can last a mere half hour, but they almost always last at least 3 hrs. So don?t expect it to be easy to leave alone!

- 28/05/03 Just a bit of advice - you might want to put in a bit more detail about what sort of game Total Annihilation is. I know this is only a review of an expansion pack, but it doesn't really mean much if you've never heard of TA!!!
But welcome to Dooyoo! Hope you take the time to read around the site and get to know some of the other writers here.
Enjoy yourself!
