Advantages: It's really good! Good sense of involvement
Disadvantages: Speech bubbles and the music
An excellent game. It has the right mixture to keep you involved. The beginning credits felt like an epic movie was about to start. If you enjoy changing weapons and armour on a regular basis and find the results of combining interesting, this is for you. Having said that, it is equally fun if you wish to meet every challenge with just the one weapon or only gloves. Bosses were more challenging than many games I've played. Extremely enjoyable. Definitely worth at least one replay.
I found this game to be rather like a combination of Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid. The lead character, Ashley Riot, is an excellent 'hero' and has a variety of interesting attacks and weapons which can be enhanced with gems (rather FF). I enjoyed the way that I could enter a room, assess the enemy and then choose my weapon accordingly. Even changing weapons mid-melee is possible - an interesting concept.
The moving mouths on the characters is a great new dimension to this game. I just wonder why we couldn't have real voices rather than speech bubbles? I do get a little irritated by speech bubbles being filled with ".....". Was there really no translation available? The fact that you could hear monsters moving or groaning when you entered a room often gave you a hint as to what you were about to encounter and made the game atmospheric, the music however was a let down, mostly the same loop over and over again. But this is a really great game, with tons of gameplay.
