The final WCW game it should of been a whole lot better (WCW Backstage Assault (PS))

Advantages: Features entrance videos, music sounds pretty good

WCW a great show but the video games seem to lack I admit I liked this game back when I bought it in 2000. Now looking at it really looks bad when you compare it to WWE Smackdown 1 and 2 also on PS1 as you could see a great deal of effort into that game.

When you enter the game you get a video of WCW playing with hardcore wrestling going after seeing this intro you would think I just bought a great game think again.

The game features loads of wrestlers possibly more then any other WCW game it as Torrie Wilson, Chavo Guerrero, Eric Bischoff, Goldberg, Sting, Big Vito, Shane Helms (Know in WWE as Gregory Helms) and Shannon Moore as the Team of 3 count, Rey Mysterio Jr, David Flair, Ric Flair and many more. This is the good thing about the game is has plenty of wrestlers. This was the final release of a WCW game cause within months WCW would close and it would be bought by WWE.

The graphics to the game are just horrible the wrestlers just look nothing like them at all I can understand them looking a bit out of shape it is PS1 but more detail could of been better. As for outside backstage it looks a bit of a mess which I felt if this game was worked on longer it might of been good. One of the big down falls to the game is you cannot fight in a ring only backstage which I find it is quite annoying I would rather fight in the ring. The same thing is said time and time again which does get annoying but this happens on every wrestling game. The wrestling is just slow and sometimes the controls feel unresponsive at times.

The create a wrestler was actually good you could even customize the WCW wrestlers and have them wear what ever you want them to wear. The big problem with create a wrestler is choosing an entrance video you cannot preview them.

The game does feature 7 backstage places but only 1 you can use at first in order to unlock them you will have to fight Hardcore Challenge Mode. The backstage area's are Truck Arena, Locker Rooms, Loading Bay, Bathrooms, The Block, Parking Garage and Media Center.

Hardcore Challenge Mode has you doing various matches which you get the chance to comete for three WCW Championships which are Hardcore, U.S and World. By doing this you will unlock more backstage areas and new wrestlers.

During the matches you hear great commentary by Tony Schiavone I always did like his commentary in WCW. Then you have Bobby Heenan his commentary just sounds random in what he says don't get me wrong I like him but in this game he just sounds bad.

When it really comes to more of WCW big wrestlers you have to unlock them which mostly you have the unpopular ones unlocked. Overall this game just could of been better and WCW Mayhem is a whole lot better. It is a shame that to see the final WCW game be so bad but don't get me wrong this game is better then WCW Nitro that was worse.

Summary: It could of been good but it looks as it was rushed.
