World Championship Wrestling, known to most people as WCW. The company who are known as 2nd best compared with the world wrestling federation. WCW is known for it many talented wrestlers such as Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit for example who are now of course in the WWF. I have watched a bit of WCW in the past, which was probably the reason for me purchasing this game. I brought it about a year and a half ago when I watched WCW (before I discovered the WWF) and saw it as a good opportunity to by my first wrestling game ever. Ok when I brought this game I didn’t know many of the WCW superstars, only really Kevin ‘big sexy’ Nash and Scott ... Read the complete review

In the same way that a fight between two six-packed wrestlers might be interrupted by a third fighter scampering into the rin, EA have leapt into a gaming arena that’s previously been reserved for ‘rasslin stalwarts Acclaim and T.HQ. Thankfully, WCW Mayhem is good enough to avoid EA ending up lying in a pool of blood and bones on the floor. There’s plenty that I don’t like about Mayhem. The 60+ wrestlers are squat, swollen headed dwarfs, who slide around the ring like they’re on rollerskates. The number of options is extremely limited - aside from changing rope break and submission rules, the volume of the crowd is just about the ... Read the complete review

...it's bad, rather bad. It's not REALLY bad, I mean, it's better than WCW Nitro for the Playstation it's just, the thing was hyped up far too much and didn't deliver. EA Sports 1st WCW games since they acquired the license is nasty. The collission detection is bad, the commentary is bad, the moves are bad, everybody does the same sort of moves. The wrestler select screen is bad, they stand there with limp wrists! The fighting backstage is...not too bad! But don't hit someone with a weapon it's bad due to bad collission detection. The create a wrestler is bad, you basically just nick stuff from the other wrestlers, ... Read the complete review

Surprised to look around the reviews and see this rated so low. This is without a doubt the best WCW game that was made on the Playstation, fair enough Thunder and Nitro in retrospect weren't much kop but WCW Mayhem was a pretty good game. This was from the time when WCW had peaked and was on the way down but to be fair to it, there was still a huge roster with Goldberg , Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart and many more still availible to play as when this game hit. Theres a lack of modes in the game but with such a big roster there's plenty to do and see in the game, each wrestler has their own move set and finishing move that are mostly all animated well, only with the ...
