Wipeout 1 (PS)

Wipeout was a fantastic and very early futuristic racing game released for the playstation. The aim is to win races in order to win progressively harder championships. You race in a hover craft of sorts, with a sort of tetrahedral appearance. There are weapons that you pick up at your disposal, including mines, a turbo boost and missiles. I really liked this game, and even now it stands up very well against the test of time. The graphics are poor, but this does not matter very much because the gameplay is very good. I bought Wipeout at 7 o’clock one cold September morning in 1995 with my brand new Playstation, the day it was released in fact. The anticipation had been building for several months and now I had it, I had a grey box and a copy of Wipeout. The adrenaline rush you got from playing Wipeout back then was like being smacked in the face with a brick, a real shock to the system. This game is one of the first games that came out for the Playstation and is one which many people find themselves getting free when they purchased the console. It is not really a bad game, with the idea to fly around inside a little battle ship, destroying enemies and completing the missions and advancing through the levels. It is a bit of a classic game and one which is quite worth a play,especially by fans of things such as Science Fiction movies as the game is along those kind of lines.
