Advantages: cheap, good grappler
Disadvantages: graphics, controls
So, you want to a new game for your trusty PS. But what's that - you haven't got enough money. Well there's always WWF Attitude, one of the growing number of cheap DC games available. While I'm reviewing this game, I must be careful not to compare it to the likes of WWF Smackdown! 2 So for now, lets pretend that WWF Attitude is the newest grappler around. What is there to do then? Well, to start off with, there's the exhibition mode, where you can take part in one of a large number of matches, including a triple threat match, stable match, 2 on 1 and a Royal Rumble, amongst others. Or, providing you have 93 blocks of memory free on your VMU, there’s the Pay-Per-View mode. In this, you can set up to 8 matches to be played in a PPV format, kind of like what you'd get on the telly. You can choose any one of the matches in the exhibition mode list or an 8-man King of the Ring. You choose who plays who and when you've finished planning your PPV, you can play it! The main part of the game though has to be Career mode. You start off as the wrestler of your choice, ranked right at the bottom, doing a few house shows, yet to taste the sweet taste of stardom. But as you improve and climb up the rankings list, you will start to be invited to Saturday Night Shotgun, Sunday Heat and Monday Raw is War shows. And eventually, when you're good enough, you'll get a PPV event to wrestle in at the end of each month. This will often be a specialist event, e.g. Royal Rumble. When you successfully defend your belt 5 times at #1, you'll be finished with the European rankings. It'll be onto the Intercontinental and finally the Heavyweight rankings. And, if you like, you can pick a partner and play a tag-team career. In addition to this, there is the option to play of King of the Ring (an 8-man knockout tournament) and the create-a-wrestler option. Here's where you can have some fun, creating a wrestler with Rik
ishi's bulk who wears only a thin bikini. Or you can create a really weedy wrestler with the ability to pull off a one-handed chokeslam on the Undertaker, with Krusty the Clown's voice. Ah, the fun never ends... But with a game you can get for as little as £7.99, there have to be flaws, surely. Well, yes actually. The graphics aren't up to scratch. The controls can be frustrating at time to say the least - fairly unresponsive. And, when you've completed Career mode, there's not really that much that makes you want to play through it again.
