I have played a few of these Grand Theft Auto games now and have enjoyed most of them really. I recently bought this version Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories on my PSP for under £10 and it's not bad as well and a nice addition to your collection in my opinion. When I played it loved the realistic graphics and how believable Vice City is and mix this with the fantastic missions and you will be entertained again for a fair while.
The storyline of this game revolves around Victor Vance who is the brother of Lance Vance from one of the previous games in the series. This character you play as is a military man who has gone off the rails. He is now involved in all sorts of criminal activities such as killing, stealing cars and dealing drugs. The missions you play are good, however some of them get repeated which is the only drawback really.
As with most of these GTA games you get to traverse a huge area and perform all the usual things from other games. You have a wide array of weapons such as grenades and machine guns. The map is pretty easy to follow and it's easy enough to find different places.
Despite a few missions repeating themselves they are pretty perfect in regards to difficulty as they are hard enough but by no means impossible to complete. For me the storyline is not bad at all and the characters and development are good too.
The graphics are impressive in this game and for the PSP they are good enough for it's capabilities. The buildings and cars a shown in great detail and the pedestrians and passers by again look realistic as you speed through the city streets comitting crimes of various nature.
All in all, this is not a bad version of the Grand Theft Auto series to add to your collection if you can buy it cheaply.
GTA: Liberty City Stories was a shot in the arm for the PSP; while it borrowed the formula heavily from GTA3, it proved on a technical level what the PSP can do, and so with its success, it was only inevitable that Rockstar would try and repeat the success again, this time with a re-iteration of GTA: Vice City, which was made famous on the PS2. Though mostly successful, the tropes that were forgiveable last time - the repeated missions and dodgy controls - are a bit more tiresome this time. However, it's still a great game worth getting for your PSP.
Style-wise, Vice City was always my favourite of the PS2 GTA games; it espouses the 1980s so efficiently with its sun-kissed vistas and mansions that hearken back to the kind of Miami demonstrated in Al Pacino's film Scarface. Indeed, it still looks great, although sometimes here is some pop-in which is a bit frustrating. Aurally, it's fantastic; the radio stations aren't as varied as before but they're still hilarious, and the selection of 80s-period songs are great.
The gameplay is as fun as ever, and driving around the mockup of Miami that is Vice City is very entertaining. However, the game is plagued by the same issues as Liberty City Stories; the controls are still a very mixed bag, leading to some movement issues, while the missions are often repetitive retreads of ones you've played before. However, the addition of the ability to swim is welcome, given that in the PS2's Vice City, touching water would lead to your demise.
Is it original? Not a bit. Is it fun? Absolutely. If you enjoyed LCS, then you'll no doubt enjoy this.
I always used to love playing GTA: Liberty City Stories, so when I heard about Vice City Stories, boy was I excited!
The game follows the traditional GTA theme of driving around in free mode until you choose to go to a mission start point, at which point you will start a mission.
The game also uses the same graphics that Rockstar have been using for GTA since GTA3 which are nothing astounding, but are more than acceptable.
The setting for GTA:VCS is almost the same of that in GTA: Vice City, however a number of changes have been made, after all; this one's set in the 90's.
The only slight problem I have is the amount of foul language in the game, every cut scene seems to have multiple occasions where foul language is used.
As with all GTA's there is a good storyline, You play as Vic Vance, brother of Lance Vance (Who you may remember from GTA:VC) through a large number of missions, towards the end the missions start to get a little challenging, but nothing too hard, it'd be boring if it was too easy!
The game took me 2 weeks to complete, due to the sheer amount of missions, which is a lot of fun for your money, and at about £10 this game is a real bargain.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is the sequel to Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories on the PSP. I really did love this game and I was so glad that I did buy it. Just like GTA Liberty City Stories the game really does have some excellent features that just make it a great game to play. The game is available form Amazon for just £10 which is a good buy for a game that will give you so much enjoyment.
I thought that the graphics within the game were outstanding considering that it is for a portable gaming console. The graphics I felt really improved the overall quality of the gameplay and I really did love playing it. As for the controls, they are the same as any other Grand Theft Auto and it is very easy to control both the charater and the vehicles. I thought that the map for the motorbikes and helicopters are just ideal and it is just so much fun in general to play!
As I said for GTA Liberty City Stories, I really did very much love the multiplayer mode that is available on the game. I found it to be ideal on long journeys when I wanted to play with my friends in a deathmatch! The vareity in the gameplay really is exceptional and there is so many missions that are available to do that it really will keep you well and truly entertained. I would really recommend this game because I think it is the ideal companion for the PSP! I hope this was useful and thank you very much for reading this.
I love this game. So much so I have owned it on the PS2, then the PC, and now the PSP. I was sucked in by it's atmosphere, it's soundtrack, it's palm trees. Wow, I really should get out more, but until then, this is my world.
Ok, a little excitable, and I know this isn't exactly the same game as GTA Vice City. It follows a prequel story, has a unique soundtrack. But thats about it. You either like the 80's vibe or love it.
I can't describe the joy of driving along south beach listening to classic electro pop, all in the palm of my hand. The graphics on here are possibly BETTER than that of the PS2 version. This is Epic. This is Miami at it's dirtiest.
For those who haven't yet indulged in the world of GTA, providing you're not too squeamish and your morals not too robust, let your hair down and enjoy this game. Pick it up for it's ridiculously low price and experience what I have experienced far too much of. Sad I know, but you can't have too much of a good thing if it's this fun without spending 400 quid on a return flight to Miami and shooting up the city!
GTA vice city stories is the second GTA game to hit the PSP, released late 2006.
Depending on what you perfer in the GTA series, ie liberty city or Vice City, may strongly influence your opinion of vice city stories, ie Vice city stories has very much the same feel as the orignal Vice City.
There are 2 Islands to Explore, and ways of transport are not as limited as Liberty City Stories. Here you can walk, swim, pilot helicopters, planes and jetskiis. Helicopters and Planes nor swimming was available in the PSP predecessor.
You play as a guy calles Victor, who after entering the army gets caught up in drugs trafficking by his sergeant. Reluctantly he takes the job but gets found out, and is then forced to try to take over the streets to earn money for his brother's medical bills. Very touching eh?
Graphics are colourful, very much the similar to GTA Liberty City Stories. Some bugs have however been roported invoving vehicle audio but I havn't encountered it all that often. Weapons again are plentiful and comedy commonly found in the GTA series ie characters, is very much included.
There is a greater sense of freedom in this game than the previous on PSP which makes it my preferred choice, however, like I mentioned previously expect to find a couple of Bugs here and there.
With the ability to completely conquer Vice City with the earning of building complexes (which you have to attack enemy gangs for) providing a way to generate cash, the game includes good sense of full completion. Again, replay value may struggle after you have completed it.
This is yet again another fantastic GTA from rockstar.
Iv always liked the GTA games but this was the first one iv ever owned on the psp and at first I was a bit unsure whether or not it would be anywhere near as good as the ps2 ones are just because games on the psp tend to be quite small compared to the ps2 games.
I wasn't disappointed though, graphics are amazing for a psp game and the map is the same size as vice city.
What I really like about vice city stories though is how there's kind of two interlocking stories going on at the same time. There's the normal missions that you have to do as the character Vic Vance, and then there's also building an empire and empire missions to do. This feature wasn't in the original vice city for the ps2 so its nice to see rockstar have come up with something new for the psp players and not just crammed vice city onto the psp.
In terms of difficulty I didn't find it too hard to complete, not that it was really easy as there were a few missions that I kept having to do again and again until I completed them. But I think they got the difficulty level just about right and most people should be alright with completing the missions.
When I was buying this I did hear from a few people saying that liberty city stories is a lot better but I disagree. Having played on both games for the psp, I think vice city stories has a lot better graphics than liberty city. Also you can swim on vice city which means its not as annoying when you crash into the ocean and just die instantly.
You can also fly choppers and planes in vice city stories too.
Altogether this is a great game that will keep you entertained for ages, even when you have completed the missions, so if you've got a psp but don't have the game yet then I advise you to get it.
Following on from the previous successes of the Grand Theft Auto titles, we have Vice City Stories for PSP. Made by the same people as all of the other games; it offers little difference from the other titles in the series. I would have to say it has no unique feel about it at all.
The plot is, as always, quite well thought out and gets developed throughout the game. It follows numerous routes as you complete missions and so on. It also follows the usual 'start from scratch' theme, where you have to work your way up in the mafia world. There is a side plot of collecting all the properties (like brothels, drug warehouses, etc.) in the game, while fighting other gangs for them too.
The gameplay is brilliant. It takes a while getting used to all the controls (like aiming, that is fairly hard due to all the different variations), but when you have mastered them, it is easy to do complex moves and navigate around easily. Driving the vehicles is awesome, but the feel of it is no where near what it is like in reality. Some of the missions are hard, some are very easy. There is a wide variety of action, car chases, sniping, collecting, and just shooting.
The graphics are quite grainy and drab, but that is to be expected when comparing consoles and handhelds. It features great effects though; like the waves in the sea, and the sandy beach. The scenes (like when you get given a mission or some big development takes place) are quite good, but not brilliant.
It features developed gameplay, and interesting missions. It isn't very hard, save for one or two missions. However, it is a pain if you don't save your game at a saving location and have to do the same few tasks again. There are many cheats to apply to this game also, which do improve the interest somewhat. But there is a huge downside. It is just like all the other GTA games before it. Once you've played one of them, you have basically played them all.
The much lauded Grand Theft Auto brand gets another airing here, this time for the PSP, after the much huge success of the Liberty City Stories which was a seqeul of sorts to GTA 3 on the Playsation 2. This one revists Vice Story in the same way and adds a different twist on the storyline but with the same effectiveness as before.
As we'v all come to expect the game play is the best for this type of game, easy to manouver and fun to play, wether you're driving around at top speed in a smart car or rallying on a motorbike this is so easy and fun to play.
Graphics are top notch again and some of the best you'll see on a handheld, the cutscenes are all well produced and of course look fantastic and hey you even get to see a computerized Phil Collins, could you ask for any more?
The Soundtrack once again is excellent with a great blend of 80's cheese and 80's rock with a few cheap little dance ditties in there too to keep you well amused.
The missions are all fun and well done and the only problem I can see is that races are all the exact same only with different cars, a minor gripe!
I can't say enough good things about Vice City Stories, it's fun .looks great, last for ages so gets an A for longevity and the soundtrack is great. What are you waiting for? Go buy this game. Thumbs up in the sky!
Game type: Shooting, Driving, Story, Mutiplayer, adventure, racing, role-playing
Loading: Vice City Stories has quick loading times, when moving into next major island there is around a five second load time.
Graphics: Just like the Playstation 2, amazingly detailed city, cars, motorbikes and of course the non-playable characters.
Sounds: As a Grand theft auto game for the PSP you would expect them to cut down on the radio to make room for data on the disk, but no! There are just as many gags and music on the radio as the previous grand theft auto games.
Story: The story for this game starts as the other grand theft auto games, with a simple tutorial mission with the difficulty going up slightly as the story goes on.
Others: With Mini-missions such as Chasing robbers, doing taxi, and being a medical staff member there around plenty of things too do for a challenge if you are are with the free-roaming exploring, killing, driving and stunting.
When i first played this game i was not expecting it to be so good,
i was expecting a bad graphic bad sound small game but that it not the story atall! there are all new veichles great new missions new weapons also this game is so much more fun to play than other games, it is very realistic, fun to play, great missions and a very believable good story line.i would say this is such a big game for such a small console, this game most is definately is best grand theft auto i have played so far.if yo are buying this game i would reccomend you not to use the cheats for this game, after trying them myself it made problems with saving the game and the speed of the time it took to load etc.lastly i would just like to say this game is great ..get it!!
if you dont really mind about the saving side of gta and you simply play for fun, not completion then using cheats is not that much of a bad idea, plus i have found out that i have been having some problems with my psp and maybe it is just my psp that makes problems.
if you do decide to use cheats they are helpful in the way that it saves that annoying time you usually spend looking for weapons veichles etc.
here are some cheats that may help you.....

Hint - Hunter Location
To find this helicopter, first you need to be done with all the story missions.
Get to the Escobar International area. Once you are there, go to the Escobar International Airport Building, where all the people get plane tickets and all that.
If you see the sign "Escobar International" on the building than you are okay!
You do not go inside the building. Instead, go to the left of the building and you will see an entrance for it looks like cars - go there! You will see an airplane that says "Plummet".
Get all the way to the end of the runway and there you will see a plane that you can be able to drive, if you see it, go East of the plane and keep on going. Soon you will see a "Green, military, strong, fast" helicopter. It is not bulletproof but it is tough enough to withstand some gunfire.
To shoot bullets press square and X (Together). To shoot rockets press circle.
if you would like some help on the game then maybe you will consider visiting gamespot.com this is a helpful website that should help you if you search for what you want.
Grand Theft Auto has been a massive success on every format it was released on. So I was really looking forward to getting my hands on Vice City stories when I bought my PSP.
I was disappointed. Bitterly disappointed. So much so, that I was thinking of selling the game on.
Loads of bugs. It is as if Rockstar pushed the game onto the public without any beta testing.
I will give you an example. The motorbike.
Jump on the motorbike and accelerate away. The noise comes out, then a fraction of a second later the animation starts to actually move the bike. There is some latency in the animation throughout the game.
Now, this might be a specific bug on the PSP version, I don't know, but there are other things. Like a truck or an ambulance, when you crash one, and it goes over on its side, the animation makes it look like this big heavyweight is gently lying down. Not nice.
Now, like I said, I could not stand to play this attempt at a game, but, when Liberty City game out, I was tempted to part with the cash again. This time however, the game was excellent, and I will write a review on that, once I stop playing it.
So, Vice City on PSP, leave well alone and only buy this if you are builing the complete collection. Otherwise, get Liberty City.
The PSPs second GTA outing, and it has added so much to what was in GTA LC stories. This is the first time you have been able to fly helecopters, swim or go into buildings (apart from ammunation) on a gta game on the psp. But the thing thats really different here, is the empire building idea, where your character buys buildings and can choose what business' to have in that building. Which is great to have a break from the story missions. One great feature about all gta games, is the control it gives you over the order to do the missions. Aswel as ALOT of side missions to do along the way. The story line itself follows the typical 'rags to riches' cliche gta story. You start of as a soldier, doing jobs on the side. You are then fired and left to work your way back into the riches. The plot includes some great tricks and turns, with humour that only rockstar north (the games maker) could get away with. My favourite part includes protecting phil collins from gangsters during a gig. (they then have the cheek to charge you $1000 dollars in the game if you want to watch it again, but it is worth it for a laugh). So, a good game for gta, and a giant leap forward for the PSP. The only little thing that worries me, is that whilst driving a car in the game fast, the PSP appears to have trouble keeping up, and as a consiquence, the draw-up distance suffers.
Rockstars 2nd attempt at a GTA psp title does not dissapoint...let round 2 commence.
Vice City Stories is set in the 1980s and acts as a prequel to the popular PS2 installement that is GTA Vice City. You play as Vic Vance, the brother of central Vice City character Lance Vance (the guy always in the purple or white suit).
A major issue with some games, especially with complex ones such as GTA VCS is the PSPs capability of allowing the user to play with ease. Overall functionality wise VCS plays very much as Liberty City Stories did. The same basic controls that feautred in the previous game are here. However the same problem regarding the targetting system still does occur occasionally with the game locking onto random civilians, instead of the guy shooting you to pieces. The camera has been improved however is not withouts its flaws as there are some instances where you will often be shot by a guy behind you who you cant see. On the whole the controls have been improved and make the game much more accessible and easier to play.
The combat and overall gameplay is typical GTA and simply loads of FUN!! Shooting people, stealing cars, flying planes, and even swimming as never been more enjoyable. Vice City itself as you would expect is a large environment filled with things to do and opportunitys to cause chaos. Those familiar with the PS2 version will feel right at home, and even those who havent will soon recognise landmarks and be able to naviogate the lush and virbant environments with ease. The map as usual indicates missions, safehouse and generally is your guide to the city.
The on foot and driving mechanics remain the same as always and havent been tweaked in any way that will affect veterans of the series. New to the lineup of vehicles is the chance to pilot planes and helicopters for the first time on psp and as an overall gta exlcusives.. jetskis are available.
The usual gta mission structure remains intact, however the missions themselves have been lengthened which though does make the game more involving, can also make it hard to play in short bursts. Overall though the mission types remain the same, they feel significanlty mroe fun to play than those played in LCS.
Of course it wouldnt be GTA without a host of side missions as well as unique jumps, rampages, hidden packages... u get the idea. Everything you have come to expect from a GTA title is there, and better than ever.
Multiplayer returns once more giving you another chance to takedown your mates (6 per game) in battles throughout Vice City Stories. The familiar deathmatch and team deathmatch modes return along with a host of new events. On the whole the multiplayer feels like a better overall package and will keep u entertained for hours. The gamesharing feature has still been left out, but every1 should own a copy of this game anyway!
And now the music, once again Rockstar have outdone themselves with a classic selection of songs from the 80s creating that great atmosphere you never thought was possible with a handheld game. The voice audio is well scripted and helps deliver an involving story that will keep you gripped till the very end. Everything from the neon lights, to the long ocean drive beach and the colourful characters helps create a truly unique gaming experince. Obviously the game is not without its flaws, however this is one of the finest psp titles available and therefore one you should own!
Vice City, 1984. Opportunity abounds in a city emerging from the swamps, its growth fueled by the violent power struggle in a lucrative drugs trade. Construction is everywhere as a shining metropolis rises from foundations of crime and betrayal. As a soldier, Vic Vance has always protected his dysfunctional family, his country, himself. One bad decision later and that job is about to get much harder. Kicked out onto the streets of a city torn between glamour and gluttony, Vic is faced with a stark choice - build an empire or be crushed.
