I love going to the casino except for the losing money part of it. But in regards to the atmosphere you can't beat it with the blackjack tables packed with gamblers and the poker tables full of tension and excitement as players try to get the mental edge. Then there is the joy of winning even just a small amount. Casinos are full of the biggest highs and lows you can experience. Hard Rock Casino does its best to bring the casino experience home to your handheld PSP system.
This game features over twenty different casino games for your pleasure. There are all the familiar table games like the popular blackjack, roulette, craps and pai gow. Then there are five different kinds of poker offered including Texas Hold 'Em and Seven Card stud to name but a few. If that's not enough there is also sports betting with horse racing top of the bill. Plus, you can even try your luck on the slot machines if you like as well. So seemingly it has everything a real casino would have from the comfort of your living room or wherever you play from.
At the core of the game though is the adventure mode. You can create your own character from a fairly limited set of designs it has to be said. Then you embark on a trip to Las Vegas with a friend to party and try to win a stack of money.
Throughout your adventure you are given goals to beat and when you do the story moves on and advances. Some of the goals include things like making ten straight correct moves in blackjack. Some, however are just down to pure luck and are a bit silly. Your reward ultimately for progressing is to unlock new casinos that all have different house rules.
The adventure mode is okay but not that exciting when you've been playing it for a bit. I actually prefer to just play the casino games individually or enter a poker tournament which is fun. There are also useful tutorials for the games that you play for beginners.
Unfortunately the graphics could be better and are bit dull with clunky character designs. The sound can get a bit annoying and repetitive as well with the banter between players.
Overall this casino version is not the greatest ever released. The games offered are fun enough but the adventure mode tries a little too hard to be original and just ends up being boring. It is not a bad effort but I woudn't rush out to buy if I were you.
