Advantages: Good gameplay and graphics

Disadvantages: Poor career mode, no official club names

Pro evolution soccer 2008 comes from a series of games that has been around for many years. It is produced by konami and is actually the first game to include the date in the title. The gameplay is very different from fifa and has many other different options. I bought it recently and have been addicted to it ever since.

Where as in fifa you have to pass your way around the opposing team and play your strikers in with through balls to score the easiest goals, pro evo tends to need crosses from the wings for goals to occur. The gameplay is in my opinion better, while I enjoy the through balls more, there are many little bits and pieces here and there that make the gameplay better and more realistic. There are many small things like backheels and quick turns on the ball with a first touch that make it more enjoyable.

The graphics are around the same quality as those in fifa. The colours and pitches seem to be darker than fifa. There is not much else that can be said about them, they are probably above average compared to the other psp games.

The part of the game that really lets it down and has prevented it from becoming the best selling football game is the copyright. The teams are not called by their proper names because Konami could not attain the official club names. e.g. Liverpool are called Rigaloose here.

Other than that the career mode just does not match up to fifa. Sure there are still transfers, but there is nothing else really other than normal matches. In fifa there are decisions that are to be made regarding the clubs financial accounts, and newspaper articles made when a special result occurs. Nothing like that happens here.

Overall pro evo is still a great game, as the other before it were. If you want the game for graphics and gameplay, then this is definately a good option. But on the other hand if you desire a good career mode, then pick fifa, your choice.

Summary: Probably not as good as fifa
