Being a big fan of Star Trek, although not a great Star Trek game fan as most of them are not that good, I decided to give this one a try as I could play it on the move.
I was not expecting it to be that good as it was made by Bethesda Softworks who previous games I had played where not really that good.
The game itself is set in 2284 and predates the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan so the ships avaliable for you to play as are from that era. You can play as either the Federation or Klingon (this campaign is set in 2346).
As the Federation you play Lieutenant Commander Renol and you have to complete missions to try and work your way up to better ships.
The graphics are basic but ok and the gameplay itself is pretty good, you have to manovour your vessel to protect your own weakness whilst trying to exploit the enemies.
It also has a multiplayer mode although I have never been able to connect to it
Tactical Assault is a real-time spaceship combat game for 1 or 2 players, featuring a wide array of authentic Star Trek races, ships, and weaponry from the universe of the original Star Trek series. Players take command of powerful Federation and Klingon warships and must outthink and out duel their opponents in order to succeed. Play through either the Federation or Klingon campaigns in single-player mode, or go head-to-head against a friend in wireless multiplayer action. Gameplay in Star Trek: Tactical Assault is about tactics, effective movement, and the use of your ship's weapons and shields. Success in battle depends on balancing your precious energy resources efficiently between these three competing needs.
