The game itself is set in 2284 and predates the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan so the ships avaliable for you to play as are from that era. You can play as either the Federation or Klingon (this campaign is set in 2346).
As the Federation you play Lieutenant Commander Renol and you have to complete missions to try and work your way up to better ships.

Being a big fan of Star Trek, although not a great Star Trek game fan as most of them are not that good, I decided to give this one a try as I could play it on the move. I was not expecting it to be that good as it was made by Bethesda Softworks who previous games I had played where not really that good.
