Disadvantages: Can be a bit easy at times
I am a huge fan of the Simpsons, whether it be the TV shows or the movie, so I had to try the The Simpsons Game on my PSP. I picked it up relatively cheaply for just over £10 which was okay. I was pretty impressed with the whole game to be honest as well.
It is simple enough to use and control and is a nice distraction from some of the full on action games you can play nowadays.
As platform games go it is fairly original in my opinion and the chraacters make comments as you go along through the gameplay. If you have the sound on the dialogue is not too distracting either and quite fun and interesting to listen to.
There are many puzzles to solve as you travel through the simpsons virtual world too. You have to keep your eyes open while playing and concetrate in order to solve the puzzles and problems that face you.
The tutorial for the game is a fun introduction to a very colourful and enjoyable game. One of the things I really liked about the game was the way the characters come to life. You can play as Bart, Homer, Marge in the various points in the game to name but a few and you will find a lot of the characters pop up as well which is good.
Another great thing about the game is the way is uses a lot of references to the show itself so if you know much about the characters and the stories then you will recognise some of the plots. For example, there is one in the game where Marge races to ban a popular game 'Grand Theft Scratchy'.
As an example of the first level of the game to give you a quick taste of what you can expect the first stage is called 'The Land of Chocolate'. As you might expect from this one you begin by controlling Homer as he takes his journey through this chocolate paradise avoiding obstacles on the way and munching through sweets and goodies along the way.
This is more of the tutorial part of the game but from there we get to play as Bart in the guise of Bartman and the journey continues to the Duff brewery and beyond.
There are a number of levels for you to get your teeth into here and some of them are a bit too easy. But it's generally good fun and if you like the Simpsons then you will want to play this
