Tomb Raider Legend is another of Lara's adventures in finding hidden treasures around the globe. The story in Legend takes Lara through many countries and is a based a lot more outside the ancient tombs than a lot of previous games.
The graphics are very clear and the action is smooth. The camera does have an annoying habit of regularly being in the wrong place when being attacked or searching around.
The gameplay is a lot more shooting and finding and flicking switches than the problem solving and agility that made the series an initial success and which has lead to numerous games failing to meet the high standards set out back in the ninties.
A major annoyance is that the button configuration is different to the Anniversary edition released a year later and is available as a double pack. Configuration cannot be changed in the options. Playing one game after the other leads to frustration as you run towards a cliff only to shoot the other side rather than majestically leaping to safety.
Ignoring the other games in the series its a good game in gameplay, graphics and story line and for those who don't like puzzles which are too in depth will really enjoy this as a platformer/shooter/adeventure game. For fans of the Tomb Raider puzzles you may find you finish the game feeling a little let down.
Times have really changed since Lara Croft first burst into our Consoles almost 15 years ago. I remember playing the very first Tomb Raider back then and loving every minute of it, even though back then it was pretty different for an action hero to be female this game was always superb. Funnily enough it just popped into my head that back then there was a rumour that you get Lara naked with a cheat. Ha ha I think I even tried it at the time.
Anyway the game has evolved since then in many ways, it looks sharper and much improved from how blocky it was back in the day and to be frank, the whole background and environment of the game is great to look at.
The game play is the same as it was back then really and pretty easy to get used to, some awkward camer angles that can annoy from time to time but generally the game is easy enough and fun enough to play.
Sound effects are all pretty cool as the gunshots and everything all sound extremley realistic .
The story mode itself is pretty long too and should keep you busy for a fair amount of time, it's well presented and has a decent plot too.
All in this is another great game in the long line of Tomb Raider games, for a handheld game it's ultra-fun to play, thumbs up from me.
Tomb Raider: Legend, released in 2006 can be seen as a downfall for the Tomb Raider series. The biggest difference with the PSP game and the game on other consoles is the hard controls. But if you can learn to live with the control, you'll find that the game is an ongoing adventure, however it is the exact same as the game on any other console; expect to solve the same puzzles and do the exact same thing.
Lara must piece together her broken memories in order to remember her past. It's a bit of a pointless story line, but I'm sure you could deal with it when you start shooting people and riding on the bike. I found that some of the levels were quite challenging, especially the one in the ruin where you must move boulders, climb up walls, and swing to one side of the room from another. In this game, you travel all over the world to places like Japan. Actually, the Japan level is one of my favourites as you scale along the sky scrapers and on to the roof of an enemie building and shoot all of the guard dogs and men.
There are eight different levels in the game. You fight many different guys, and there is some blood shed. Some of the bad things I can point out about this game is that the camera angles suck, and also there isn't much to do when Lara shoots her gun. It is sort of simple. Also, some of the angles to shoot objects are pretty badly done. The analog stick on the PSP makes moving pretty hard, especially when you need to do some hard jumps.
Over all I'd say that this game was a waste of money, some of the levels were nice, but it wasn't really worth it.
