Rating:
I am a big fan of the Virtua Tennis games; I've bought them consistently since they began on the Dreamcast, and so decided to give the PSP iteration, World Tour, a go. Despite being handheld, this is a larger than life game that is a whole lot of fun. Visually, this is a realistic game but tennis games are hardly going to show off the PSP, are they? It's fair to say that the characters only half resemble their real counterparts, but for most of the game they're a fair way away from you, so it doesn't become distracting or anything. All in all, it gets the "TV look" of tennis matches right, and that's what matters. Aurally, the game also sounds quite ... Read the complete review

--Gameplay-- This is another game that gets you hooked as soon as you start playing. The game offers a great range of features including tournament and exhibition matches and also of course the World Tour mode. When you start the world tour it is hard but the more training you do the better you will get and as you start to win more tournaments you will notice your world ranking slowly starting to rise. Training includes drills such as serving, volleying, footwork, forehand and backhand. Once I started my world tour I couldn't go back to play a normal tournament or exhibition game as I wanted to be the world number 1 as soon as possible! I have never played as multi ... The virtua tennis games line began around 10-15 years ago in arcade machines, since then the games have developed massively and have made their way on to games consoles. There have been quite a few versions, 4 to be precise, and they have all been popular. But can this new game meet the expectations that have been set before it by previous games? The gameplay is pretty similar to previous versions, brilliant. Running and turning is easy to do, but it does vary from player to player. There are three different shot types that can be hit, lob, topspin and slice. There are many different moves that players can do, like say diving or hitting a shot through their ... This legendry series of games has yet again pulled of another great game, but this time on the psp. *Gameplay* The game is easy to play, and the buttons are self explanatory. There are a variety of players, courts and attire, which can be brought on world tour mode. There are 6 game modes; quick match, exhibition, tournament, ball game, multiplayer and of course the world tour. The world tour mode consists of you making a players, both male and female. You have to train your players up and win games, therefore going up the rankings. Your ultimate goal is to reach number 1 in the world ranking, thios is fairly hard to do, but when you get hooked onto ... Read the complete review

I picked this up in Game for £5 near work and I am a big tennis fan but don't really play my psp so I wasn't bothered that it wasnt the most up to date in terms of characters you can play as (Tim Henman still on it). These type of games are good for picking up for a few spare minutes if you have them on your side. Its very arcade like which makes it fun and the graphics are bright and clear and its pretty good fun. The controls are easy to pick up and you can change the length of matches, which personally for me is a bonus because if i'm playing it on a short journey I can play short matches so i'm finished in time. The actual main part of the game ... Read the complete review
