What comes in the box ================ Karaoke system Scart adapter Audio cable User manual 1 Microphone To set up ======== This is quite easy, you just plug the audio cable into the back of your karaoke system, then put the colour leads into the desired sockets on the scart adapter and then plug the scart adapter into the back of the television. That's all there is to it, then you need to switch your television to AV mode and switch the machine on, then you are all set to go. To use ===== The machine is just pretty basic and really easy to use, once it is set up you can leave your kids on it for hours. You do need to make sure you plug the microphone in, which is connected just at the bottom of the machine, there is two microphone slots, but you will have to purchase a second one should you want one, as this is only supplied with one. The system can be used for CDG discs or just normal CD but with the normal CD you will not have the words coming up on the screen to help you. Inserting a disc is also an easy task, you have an open and close button on the top of the machine, just press that each time you want to open or close the machine and insert the disc, its simple. The system is just like any other audio player that has your normal play, stop pause and skip buttons but with this you also have a microphone volume control, which will adjust both microphones to the desired volume which will go better with the music and obviously if you have a loud mouth lol. You can also add echo to your singing, but I prefer not to do this as I think it spoils it. You can also adjust the normal music volume to a level that suits yourself, and possibly stop you getting complaints off your neighbours, as this can go pretty loud. My overall opinion ============= I found this system to be very ideal and easy to use. It also acts like a normal CD player too, that you can take out somewhere with you, as it does have a battery compartment, although I have never used this as I would not let the kids take this out with them, as they are too young. The picture quality seems good on the television of the words but I think this would be more to do with your television than anything. It does play discs very well, and I have never had any problems with it scratching any of them, although they did get played a lot. The only thing is the discs for the karaoke do cost quite a bit more than normal discs so I would check out Ebay for these as they will be a lot cheaper. This has been used for jus a little bit of fun time with the kids, and for when I have had parties and it always seems to go down well, I could literally use this for hours without getting bored. And so far I have had no problems with it at all.
This Karaoke machine is all singing and dancing and comes with its own mic and monitor which shows the lyrics. This is one of the closest versions to a professional Karaoke machine but without the price tag. At less than £130 it is more expensive than most basic machines but it has a few special features to make the price tag worthwhile. Setting this machine up is pretty easy - no more difficult than any sound system. The instructions are easy to understand and there isn't flicks and switches everywhere to confuse you. A child could quite easily take it out of the box and set it up within 30 minutes. The mic is ok but not great for duets. For this you would have to purchase another one. Any mic will fit though so it isn't as if you need a specific one. The sound that comes out is much dependant on the singer but all in all it isn't bad! Volume can be controlled from the unit and you can get it pretty loud but not too loud that it annoys the neighbours. The screen is a good feature but is a little small for children to read the words. I would say this is more a product for young teenagers. It is a shame it is just black and white as I don't think it would have cost too much more to put in a colour monitor. Overall I think most children would like to unwrap this on Christmas Day. I give it 4 out of 10.
Our daughter like all children loves music, dancing and of course singing so her Grannie couldn't think of a better christmas present. Grannie purchased this last year (2009) off Amazon for just over £100 with free delivery. From looking at the site it is now £89.99 and still with free delivery. This portable karaoke machine is silver with a digital video camera, a built in 5.5" tv monitor, a built in speaker with bass port and of course a microphone. It is light in weight and can easily be moved around as it has to holders on either side to safely transport it. An adult can easily move it but would advise small, young people as its quite big and bulky to a child. This all in one machine is a grand buy as it allows you to follow along to the song lyrics on the built in tv monitor. You can also connect the karaoke machine to your external tv if your having a karaoke party! The tv monitor can display either the song lyrics or the video image of you but cannot do both at the same time. If you were to use the external tv you could have the lyrics on your tv and the video image on the built in tv. The monitor is only in black and white but to honest does not bother any of us. It plays a CD and a CDG. A CDG is a CD + Graphics meaning it has lyrics and sometimes videos. The CD door is on top of the machine so you can change CD's carefully. The sound is not bad for such a small thing! You can also connect it to a sound system to really pump up the volume for your karaoke party!! The advantages to it being portable is that you can choose where you want it as long as there is a plug socket. I have had it downstairs when we've had Maddie's friends around and even when ours have been round. Mostly it stays in Maddie's room so she can play music or have a sing along when she wants. The video camera is on the front so you need to either pop it onto a chair or have people standing far enough away so they can see themselves on the TV. The only let down is there is no microphone holder! So the microphone has no home to keep it from getting damaged. This would be the first thing I would of designed. The microphone has an echo effect this is to make it sound like your singing in a big concert hall. Overall this is excellent and worth every penny. I would give it 5 out of 5 regardless of the disappointments as they are minor. Thank you for reading and if you are purchasing "have fun"!
