I had some Argos vouchers and was not sure what to use them on, after scanning the Argos book for things that were useful for the house of the other members of my family, I found myself looking at the portable CD players. I have many CD's that I rarely get to play anymore so thought I would treat myself to one.
I purchased this Goodmans because the colour was a light lilac and as purple is my favourite colour in any form or shade, that was a good enough reason for me. It came wrapped up nicely and I was very pleased with the general look of the player. The headphones that came with it were of a very cheap quality and after the first use were discarded quite quickly in favour of a better quality substitute. The headphones had no sound quality at all and if you turned them up too loudly, the sound just distorts. Very poor show.
The player itself was well worth it, the 20 second anti-shock system took a bit of getting used to as I didn't really know what this was when I first got it. It stops the CD player from skipping or jumping should you knock or bang the player at any time. I didn't realise it had this option until I read the instructions properly. There is also a lock option which stops you from being able to open the case while a CD is in play. It apparently has a built in charger which is meant to recharge batteries while in use. This didn't work for me, I found it easier to recharge the batteries then insert them, after all I do use this a lot. It isn't bulky or heavy and is easy to use and get on with. It is also quite attractive with its silver edges and light purple tint. Good buy!
BEWARE! I bought one of these at full catalogue price from Argos. The unit came in new packaging with new remote and literature. It had an in-tact Wuality Assurance seal. The recorder itself was SECONDHAND and BROKEN.
I was luckky; the previous owner had been careless with the machine and it was obviously used as well as broken. If Goodmans are repackaging broken used goods, you might not realise what you have bought until it is too late.
The Goodmans GCD 89 Ri Personal CD player is a very nice little player. With a transparent blue top blended with silver surround and buttons it also looks very modern and in my opinion makes it look that little bit more expensive than it actually is! So what do you get out of the player? Well, it’s got the following features: - 20 Second Anti-Shock system - Extended battery life (you can get 20 hours out of normal good quality batteries and 16 hours with the Anti-Shock feature turned on) - Built in recharger for those of you using rechargeable batteries - DBBS Bass Boost system You also get the usual features of a CD Player including all the play and repeat options. Whats the sound quality like? Well, I must admit, I was disappointed with the earphones supplied with the player. They just don’t seem to go loud enough and if you have it on full volume with bass on aswell, the earphones just can’t hack it and you get the horrible distorted sound all the time. Change the earphones and you’ll get some excellent quality sound from the player. The player is light, but still quite robust. I’ve dropped it a couple of times and nothing has happened to it (yet!). The 20 second anti shock will make it easier for you to avoid missing the favourite part of your sound when you drop it though and works extremely well. I dropped the player on the floor and it still kept playing and didn’t skip at all. Would I buy it again? Yes, but I would also purchase some better quality earphones to go with it! Overall, a good player but you can get better if you are going to use it heavily.
GCD 707B is a great product at a ridiculous low price. I was out looking for a birthday present but didn't have a lot of money but I wanted to get a portable CD player. This Goodmans CD player is what I bought. It's only £35 in ARGOS it looks good and sounds very sharp. It also comes with a 10 second Anti Shock Programme that means you can listen to your CDs without them jumping everytime you move. It requires 4 AA bateries, but, they last around 20 hours playing (not bad). This is really worth your money especially as it is so cheap.
