Advantages: Looks nice, plays well

Disadvantages: Earphones

The Goodmans GCD 89 Ri Personal CD player is a very nice little player. With a transparent blue top blended with silver surround and buttons it also looks very modern and in my opinion makes it look that little bit more expensive than it actually is!

So what do you get out of the player? Well, it’s got the following features:

- 20 Second Anti-Shock system
- Extended battery life (you can get 20 hours out of normal good quality batteries and 16 hours with the Anti-Shock feature turned on)
- Built in recharger for those of you using rechargeable batteries
- DBBS Bass Boost system

You also get the usual features of a CD Player including all the play and repeat options.

Whats the sound quality like? Well, I must admit, I was disappointed with the earphones supplied with the player. They just don’t seem to go loud enough and if you have it on full volume with bass on aswell, the earphones just can’t hack it and you get the horrible distorted sound all the time. Change the earphones and you’ll get some excellent quality sound from the player.

The player is light, but still quite robust. I’ve dropped it a couple of times and nothing has happened to it (yet!). The 20 second anti shock will make it easier for you to avoid missing the favourite part of your sound when you drop it though and works extremely well. I dropped the player on the floor and it still kept playing and didn’t skip at all.

Would I buy it again? Yes, but I would also purchase some better quality earphones to go with it! Overall, a good player but you can get better if you are going to use it heavily.
