... ve had this for a couple of years, I originally bought it because it was able to play mp3s from CDR and CDRW. Although I do have a dedicated mp3 player, I would rather listen to my CDs on this. I did find the mp3 navigation to be slow, and this wasn t helped by the limited display. Panasonic SL-MP 30 ... you re like me and prefer handling your music rather than merely transferring data, (geez, I d be up for a portable mini vinyl deck with headphones if it was easily transportable!) this isn t a bad little runner. The reason I purchased this rather than the multitude of other portable cd players available at the time was the fact that it could easily play re-writable cd s, and more importantly could read mp3 data from a cd. Not having a computer with a cd burner would make this less useful, but then any mp3 player without a computer isn t so much fun. Sony D-NE 518 CK ... upon a time I had a car, and it had a radio that didn t work and a cassette player that did. So I used to tape my CD s onto cassettes to listen to in the car. This wasn t ideal, after all a tape only plays for a relatively short time before it needs turning over, but that was all I had. Then I saw an advert in the paper for the Sony D-NE518CK , a CD/mp3 player which came with a car kit that simply went into the cassette slot and you could get upto 30 hours of music one disc.
